Way to go! I absolutely love hunting in Maryland... seems to be a lot more deer [bucks] there. Can't wait to hear the recap of your adventure... congratulations
So here is my wonderful story, I got up at about 4 and just thought to myself "im gonna kill one today" and went about my normal routine in the mornings. Eat cereal, watch tv and check the wind then go get in the stand. I went in to a stand I call the gully as you can see in the picture im in a gully. my stand is up in a big oak tree and is just a perfect set up. any way I got into the stand and had a buck run up on me while I was climbing the tree but I couldn't tell what he was because it was dark, he ran off and the morning was very un-eventful other than the 2 does and 2 spikes I saw. I sat all day and didn't see another deer until 330. it was 2 huge hog does that were just trying to do everything they could to bust me in the tree. they couldn't quite pick me out and they fed off and then a small spike came in and chased them around. then a few minutes after they left a second group of deer came through. a six point and 2 more does, they fed around my stand for a while and fed off like the other does had done. Then I had a yearling spike come in and mill around for about 2 minutes until I heard footsteps coming from my left. something was telling me to grab my bow and get ready because it was the 145-150 incher. I looked up and all I saw was horns. he came on a string 13 yards broadside and I double lunged him and he ran about 60 yards and tipped over! Gotta love it when a plan comes together! also the hole in the picture is the exit not the entry, he was quartering away the slightest bit.
Heading upstate in a few minutes with my Amish buddies... to 'big-buck' [120 to 140 class] country. Will be hunting there for two days. Rifle season starts this Saturday in New York State... but I'll still be hunting with my bow 'til the end of the season - which ends the first week in December.
Sounds like patience was the key and im glad it turned out good for you buddy an hope u can do it again Congrats again thats a nice buck
In the land of plenty (I hope). Trails, rubs and sign galore... Now I pray for one to come within range. Sent from my E6782 using Tapatalk
