I am trying to get in an evening hunt tomorrow. Could of went today but its about 84 out and dont want to sit in the heat. Cools off a little tonight
Trying my best to get out asap. Theres a cool front rollin in tomorrow an it should make for some good early bowhunting its still early in the game but its definitely time to kick my hunting into high gear thinking about moving a stand from one side of the plot to the other side as the deer have been funneling in from the north instead of south so I will try an move it Friday an hunt Saturday an Sunday so we will see how it goes.
Soooo Looking forward to being able to finally get back out hunting! Been too long, but this is the schedule i have to deal with. I wish i could be out in the stand every day... Come on winning lottery ticket!!
Such a close call last night but couldn't get the deal sealed. Hopefully today or tomorrow. My month off was cut in half, so tomorrow is my last hunt for a while. Not sure if I am just working a normal 2 week hitch or a double to stay on my normal rotation. If its just a 2 week Ill be back in time for the last week and a half, which could be great. Other wise, I will be buying a new heater body suit and a lower poundage bow and getting ready for a winter hunt lol.
Which reminds me John... Tony has your info at the shop in case someone with a lower poundage bow wants to upgrade. Good luck in your new job (and closing the deal on a deer)! Catcha' later young man...
Awesome thank you sir! If I work a double I just might go buy a new one. But if its my normal 2 weeks I wont have that kind of extra money laying around haha
Well no action tonight guys. I will be out Saturday and Monday so I will be posting updates throughout the weekend!
Should be good for both morning and evening hunts tomorrow. Hope I can get some more meat! Good luck to those hitting the woods this weekend!
I'm in the tree now overlooking bean field and couldn't get out this morning because of bad thunder storms and heavy rain. Anyone else get out?
Tonight could be the night im in the ground blind no sightings yet slight north wind in my face light overcast all day good luck to u all its 530 here an im sitting til last light im at the Honey Hole an hoping for some action
Had a tiny doe walk right under my tree and saw a group of about 15 in the corner of the field about 100 yards away but they worked back into the woods so I'm waiting on a big doe or buck
I was literally covered in doe this evening. I had to create a diversion just to get out of the blind. Well the first sighting was a big doe an 3 fawn at about 7:00 well they did just what I thought an came in from the north again I was sitting south in the blind an again the only shot opportunity I had was a 66 yard prayer so I just waited an the more I did it got darker an before u know it I was covered in doe. No sign of shooter bucks yet so what I planned to do in the next week or so is setup a mock scrape probably tinks scrape bombs. My intentions this go round was to move my stand this past friday well that didnt happen so tomorrow around noon im gonna move it to the north side of the plot an hunt south winds. Tonight was perfect besides the string the deer took but all in all I loved every minute of it. I had good cover scent my blind works just fine where it is but could be repositioned at any time. Its made from scratch thats what gets me an I see this season turning out just fine come the rut. So #1 priority is to get the stand moved thats a must do its no longer serving a good purpose in its current position due to the direction the deer come in. No matter the wind they always come in from the North thats there entry point on the northeastside of the plot. In previous years they would funnel dn from the southeast side off the hill. Not anymore. Every since I mistakenly shot a button there in that corner where the stand currently is they must know its a danger zone so with that being the case its time to regroup its either move the stand or buy another to hang on the northside. Well thats my take on it fellas this group of deer can definitely use some MANAGEMENT. There is more deer coming in this plot than I had anticipated its about a five acre plot an there is still plenty purple hull peas an sweet potatoes in there so its a great spot an it may produce a good buck hopefully the big 8. No camera sightings on him yet but its only a matter of time an he may even have a buddy this year. Im gonna be hunting the new spot in the morning so im gettin ready to call it a night im tryna get in early so I can c whats in store an also put a camera back in an start a mock scrape. Hope u guys are doing well an making some progress weather making needed adjustments or just waiting patiently for what u deserve. Good luck Booner Boyz
