    Fellow DeThrowners,

I run a company (my own small business) called Step Ahead Outdoor Solutions. We specialize in online hunting journals (fishing journal yet to come). This is the first hunting season we have been in business. We have a journal called the Non-Typical Whitetail Journal that is an awesome tool for any deer hunter.

What I would like to do, if you guys are game, is set up an account for our team to use this fall, free for Team DeThrown members of course. With the way our memberships work each team member would have their own private account, but we would be able to see what each other is doing anytime someone makes a journal entry by having us all in a group account. There is all kinds of information that can be entered for each hunt. Each user would also have the ability to keep tabs on the groups total sightings, harvests, hours hunted and much, much more.

With your personal account you will have access to all of the mapping tools we offer for treestands and trail cameras. All of the mapping information is private for each user.

If any of you guys want to try it out for the season just let me know. The only info I need to set it up is a name and email address. The email address is for your username when you login to your account. I think it would be really fun to be able to see what each of us sees when we hunt and what conditions we are hunting in. The journal itself is a great management tool and also lets each hunters see patterns and trends that sometimes aren't noticable until it is too late.

Like I said, I will set it up for free for anyone on our team. I think it would be very beneficial to my company to have a group of dedicated hunters using it in a somewhat controlled enviorment where questions can be asked and answered easily and quickly. I hope some of you will take advantage of my offer and give it a try. I am a firm believer that until you take every condition into consideration you will never really know how mother nature and human pressure/interaction truely affect the animals we hunt.

Well I just got home from the Firehouse and im packing up to head to KY. I hope to get down there and check some trail cams and see whats still moving around. Ive got several stands hung from early in the summer so I should be good to go. I will upload some pics tonight of the trip and any shooters im seeing on cam. To say excited would be an understatement!!!!

Dan- I would be game for trying out a journal to get your site up and running with some fresh topics.

Dan - I'd definitely be interested in the journal. I've been keeping an excel journal for 3 years now. It can be tedious, but its fascinating to look through.

Rutin- can't wait to see some of your pics! Have a safe trip down & back.

I will also shoot a hare from stand if the opportunity presents itself :D

That's great! I wanted to make sure everyone understands that my site in no way will complete with this one. It is not a forum at all, but the observations entered and conclusions or theories that come from them will make for some interesting topics to talk about here.

    Thanks,

    Dan

    Good luck Rutin!

Dan, that sounds pretty neat, Thanks! I'm in.

    Fitz,
We are on the same countdown! Except mine initially opens as doe only. But that's fine by me, I like shooting does.

Despite the 90+ temps we are supposed to get the next couple days, I'm excited to see many deer out of thier summer coats and a few bucks out of velvet. Can't wait to next week's low 70's temps!

Thanks for giving my journal a try. I too kept an excel spreadsheet for a few years, and let me tell you, you are going to love this! Whoever wants to give it a try just PM me your name and email address. I will set us up a group account. The reason for the email address is for your login. It is the best way to have a unique login for each person. I don't give the email out to any other people or sell them to anyone, so don't worry about that.

    Thanks again,

    Dan

HUNT0009.jpg Hey guys I am living in the woods, came in to eat lunch and then headed over to E.WA. this afternoon. Had a cool encounter with this guy (moose) last night but no luck. He's still in full velvet.. he's an old buck ... hunted for him again this morning... Nothing.. moving...I rarely see this deer on TC let alone in person.. saw him for about 10 seconds last night ..he slipped by me on the mountain well out of range..

Dan I am in, sounds cool. Good luck Rutin!

    Shed,

    Got it.

Good luck with that buck. I have never had the opportunity to take a buck in velvet. I think it would be a true trophy. I hope you get a crack at him.

Oh well, I guess we aren't the most observant group of guys since nobody on our team caught that:whip:

We'll just have to make up for that in the woods

I have accounts set up for the guys who have given me their info. Their is no deadline, so when the rest of the guys have a few minutes to get me the info I will get them going. You will be getting a welcome email with some pointers soon (as soon as I get them ready and sent out).

    Thanks again
