Sweet Rutin, you will get him! Great weekend here, covered up in elk, lots of footage of a nice bull, 17 elk total, two other bulls... I put the no shoe sneak on.. only to have the wind switch on me after 2 hours.. at 60 yards.. back at it again tonight. :) Saw one nice whitetail buck yesterday.. 200 yards out.. the elk are going nuts now and really got the woods stirred up... good luck everyone

Gonna give it a go after work 3 nights this week. Then the PA general season opens Saturday. The morning I am making a play at a couple bigguns, then the evening I will be all about some doe whackin in my best spot.

V.S. and Rybo good luck this week. Covered up in elk last night and this morning, working hard to fill that second elk tag.. passed on a couple spikes less than 20 yards and a couple cows broadside at 25 and 40 yards.. was right in the thick brush with the big herd bull screaming his ass off for over 1 hour.. at one time he was 10 yards from me but so thickly brushed I could not get a shot off... so stinking intense but frustrating.. he was dogging a hot cow ...and were ever she went he did.. He was so vocal that he ended up calling in another really nice bull from over a mile away...not to mention the spikes, rag horn and forky he already had in his herd.. had to sneak out in the dark after never getting a shot at him... elk are still there..then this morning I heard a bull scream while in bed at 4:40 am..so I got up and dressed and went out in the dark and moved towards him and his cows from the house.. socks only! got within 70 yards of him and over 25 cows..couple spikes at daylight.. could have killed a couple cows but again was hoping to get a whack at the herd bull.. he was a nice respectable 5x5.. he stayed above me herding cows as I had to stay downwind of him... never did get a shot ..due to time..had to go home and get ready for work... Back at it again ..Wed.. can't hunt tonight.. whitetails are on hold for this week.. its elk week! OH I did see one of my nice bucks yesterday evening while hunting elk.. a buck I call Poncho 6x6 (5x5 double browetines) I bumped him elk hunting he didnt seem too alarmed as he thought I was an elk with all the calling.. thought about pulling a stock but I had that big herd bull screaming 250 yards away..so I ditched that idea and moved towards the elk.... I have over 2 hours of vid and awesome elk talk from last night.. video sucks because I was in so much brush, but playing the audio back just listening to all those elk communicate is pretty awesome..

Keep up the hard work boys! VS, it'll be good to have you released back into the woods once again!

Well, Sara is down in Duluth for a few days, so I'm stuck watching the Lodge. We have one Cabin here already and I'm waiting on one check-in. If they get here early enough, I might try and sneak out tonight. Otherwise, it's looking like Friday night would be my next shot.

Even If I don't sit out, I want to go check my cameras. Oh yeah, I put out my old camera on the doe's carcass in the woods... Always fun to see what comes out for the free meal :tu:

So, I've been having this recurring dream.

I'm in the stand overlooking the beaver dam. I see a body moving through the brush in the middle of a creek. Out walks The Beast @ 25 yards. He stops and puts his head down to drink from the creek. I come to full draw. Settle the pin. and Release*** I instantly wake up!

Most of my "hunting" dreams involve a series of forgotten items, broken equipment, or ridiculous mistakes (like not having a license). This is the only one I've ever had that has gone along without a hitch... it's also the only one that I don't see what happens after the shot. Weird! But, I'm hoping it's fortuitous :tu:

Guests checked in early and I've got the first W wind of the season, so I'm headed to my new set in the corner of the lake.

The wolf pic is pretty nuts.

I had a good hunt. Still nothing on the ground, doe only season and all I had shots at were bucks. One of which could possibly be a shooter. Especially here in PA. He came in just before dark, at first I thought wow, he's nice. Then he started shrinking. Then he came closer & started growing. I'd need to see him in better light. I was pinned up my tree to well after dark waiting for him and a couple does to move off.

I'll be back out one more time for doe only on Friday, then weather dependant it's for reals on Saturday.

Fitz, sweet pic! Rybo, sounds like you are in a good spot to ambush an early season buck.

The temps are set to be low on Saturday, like 40ish low, with daytime highs of only 60! Bring it on baby!

Keep it up guys! Reading your reports is keeping me from going crazy from not being out there. They make me feel like I am at least involved in some sort of hunting activity:tu:

I have a question! Just got off the phone with the farmer i hunt on when i go to Nebraska and he planted soybeans instead of corn this year, but all the farmers around him put in corn, Will this be better or worse? Trying to figure out a week to go hunt up there and should i wait till they cut the corn around him or not worry about it.
