Only 2 doe who stayed or at 80 plus yards and bedded down twice until dark.
    So frustrating.

Went out tonite with the goal to try and take a doe.

At about 5:30 this afternoon, and good sized doe made the mistake to come within 30 yards of the stand :D (28 yards)

Good size doe, only thing was she had no fat on her......this time of year it should have looked like suet on her?

Anyways, 50 points for the good guys....

Video was taken by a Contour head cam, 1x zoom, at the distance I shot at, things are a bit tiny, and converting over to a AVI format, resolution took another hit, but it is something to play with I guess...

Had an awesome 2 sits in illinois and am back in KS...drew back friday night on three separate does but never got a shot. Passed a REALLY tempting 125-130" 8 saturday morning but just couldn't make myself do it...was clearly a 3 yr old though I still would have been happy with him.

He had been showing up fairly regularly on TC. Anyway, back in Ks, hunting tuesday morning, then probably a week or so before I see the woods again.

I seen 8 deer total this weekend. No bears. 7 of the 8 were to far with no shot the 8th was a little 6 point. Don't really want to shoot a little one this early in the year. Hopefully next time there is a bigger one close.

Congrats on the doe! I spent the weekend down where I grew up (its in the sticks so dial up internet and no phone service is the name of the game, sorry Brandon), but I had a good time, hunted some familiar places and some new places, saw that a part of my lease has been cut over (should make for a good rifle season), and was able to get another doe for the freezer.

It was really weird as she came in from directly downwind from a HEAVY north wind to about 18 yards. She made it about 120 yards and piled up. Very poor deer. Hip bones showing, no fat at all. Slight amount of milk but she was totally alone, I watched her coming from over 100 yards.

I saw a few other deer, some fresh rubs/scrapes and overall had a very good weekend and the best opening week of my life.

Glad yall are able to get out, its been a beautiful weekend down here.

Congrats on the does fellas! I took my friends son out for youth shotgun season Saturday and Sunday. Sat morning we had 6 deer come in to range but never gave him a shot. One was a buck (fork) and he didn't want to shoot a doe knowing there was a buck in the herd lol. Eventually, the does got downwind. Show over.

Sat evening, we saw a really BIG 6 point. He skirted us at about 90 yards and made a scrape. He was wider than his ears, good mass, solid buck, just no brows.

No sightings yesterday morning but saw a few does last night just out of range. Saw enough deer to keep him interested and I know now that I need to move a couple of stands. :)

Any sit with a new hunter is a good sit knowing you are the one to help them get started.
Getting new info on the deer in your area is a great bonus too.:tu:

Good job on the does! I got to hunt Saturday and Sunday morning seen 13 deer total 10 were bucks with the largest being about a 115, 8 pointer. I had planned on hunting till about 9:30 sunday and had a small doe come in by herself at 30 yards so I took the shot and lucky for me she didn't take 2 steps and went down so made the recovery quick. I will try and get the pictures up tonight but I have never been able to load pictures on this sight for some reason. I forgot to take pictures until i got home so there in the bed of the truck, I will do better job on the pictures if I get a buck!
