I moved up here for the job. Got my BS in wildlife conservation a couple years ago. Its a good job, I don't deal with any law enforcement stuff, I just plant foodplots and stuff like that. I knew early on I wasn't cut out for an office job and wanted to work with wildlife so I am a trained wildlife biologist, although not currently employed as a bio, just as the area technician.
I wonder if Mike killed something? I woulda figured he would have checked in with his story by now otherwise
Sounds like a great job to have! Esp up there. The office isn't bad. I get plenty of time off an make decent money. Going out in the morning? Hope I at least see something. Good luck if you are!
Not tomorrow Iv gotta work unfortunately. Im not to big a morning bow hunter anyway. Good luck to you. Are you gonna get a chance to go down and chase a bear? I do enjoy it most of the time, but there are definately times when I wish I was in an office. We should see about everybody exchanging numbers or something so the suspense doesn't get to bad on us all
Sorry guys. No luck yesterday at all. Seems that we have more coyotes then we used to and they are chasing all of the deer off. Do i will be dropping every single one i see. hopefully i will get back or this week sometime Sent from my LG-E739 using Tapatalk 2
I'll be heading To big cedar Thursday night. So I'll have the weekend to hunt there. Bear or deer is getting shot. Whatever I see first. I'll drop you a pm with my number.
I got in a tree last night for my first hunt of the season. I had a doe walk past me less than 20 yards on the way in to the stand. Let her go and hurried to my stand. 10 minutes after getting set up, had a doe eating acorns at 25 yards. She ended up passing my stand at 10 yards and fed off into the standing corn. Last light had another doecome by at 20 yards. I don't know why, but I just wasn't feeling it to shoot a doe. It was raining and I had some projects around the house I'm trying to finish up.I will add though, that I would have blown off the work if a shooter buck would have walked by. Have tickets to the Cardinal game tonight and plans tomorrow after work, so Thursday evening will be the next chance to hunt.
Hey guys I will be traveling to Branson, MO on 13th & 14th and maybe two extra days and was wondering if anybody know of any good hunting grounds around there. Wife wants to go to Branson with the family and I said I would go but would like to get in the woods if I got the chance. She said it would be fine if we stayed two extra days to hunt. So if anybody has any ideas of good hunting gound out there it would help. Thanks Chris.
I go to Big Cedar alot but haven't tried hunting there. I'd think you'd have to be part mountain goat to hunt there, us flat landers have it easy!!
Just got back in from hunting this morning. This is two days now the deer have been back behind me. So I moved one of my stands to the next shelf down. Wont get to go back until next week. But hopefully I'll be closer to then now. Any one else go?
Yea I know It is pretty hilly there but thought I would give it a try. Always wanted to anyhow. I still am pretty young so I might fair ok as long as a don't have to drag anything to big.
I have never hunted it but there is a conservation area called Drury/Mincy I think thats how you spell it! There in Holister, I have scouted it several years ago and there was alot of deer signs there. They had several food plots in and I seen alot of deer when I was driving around. Hope that helps! If you need anything give me a call 417-830-8410 Jerry
Hey thanks for the advise I will have to check it out on the MO Conservation page and look at the atlas. I was going to look at all the pulic land around there tonight at work to see what I was getting my self into. I will give you a call if I need any advise Thanks. Chris.
All the private land I hunt is about 2 1/2 hrs NW or 2 1/2 hrs east or I would take you there! If you go to Drury Mincy let me know and I might meet up with you if your hunting by yourself.
