I'll be hitting it hard this weekend for a four day hunt. If nothing comes of that I will be back to my camp for the first ten days of November.
Well I broke my hand so couldn't go out last weekend, MIGHT be going out this weeken depending on how my hand feels after football game... We need points.
Going out for morning and afternoon hunts on Friday and then afternoon hunts Saturday and Sunday. Changing stand locations for the next few hunts hoping I can get some points. Targeting a buck that looks to be offspring of another buck that has some bad genes. One side is normal and the other is a really odd single spike. Hope that maybe a nice buck will walk by as well but I need to shoot the other one before he can pass on genes. Not shooting does until later in the season.
Awesome!! Way to go man! I am sitting in the tree now hoping ti out a tag on a buck. Can't wait for your story. Now that we got the ball rolling we got a chance! Sent from my SCH-R530U using Tapatalk
I left work early last Thursday night hoping to get into the stand by 4:45pm. There was a rain/snow mix when I first arrived but it soon stopped. The noise from this mixture falling from the trees can be very distracting, allowing deer to sneak in much easier. The doe I shot was with another doe and ended up sneaking within 30 yards when I first caught movement from them. They were heading towards a fresh cut cornfield, and I thought I was going to miss out on another opportunity because I had no lane to shoot. When the lead doe got to the main trail she decided to turn and come right where I wanted her too. Isn't it a great feeling when that happens? I was already drawn and she had no clue I was there, she entered my main shooting lane at 20yds, and I stopped her. THWACK!!!it was a perfect shot. She bounded off and ended up piling up about 75 yards away 4 rows into the corn. Good eating!! I apologize for the garage pics, but it ended up starting to poor rain so I was in a hurry to get her hung in the garage. I leave for Illinois this Friday am and will be in the stand for a evening sit. Hopefully I get some bone down!! Now that I started the party who's going to follow? A lot of season left team, lets get some does on the board. Best time to bow hunt is just about to begin! Hows the movement looking?
Great job Sparrowhawk, I was out the last three days, lots of deer seen. None that I wanted to shoot, did have a nice 150" nine pointer about 70 yards away. But that's the closest he would come, was suppose to be able to stay at my camp and hunt until Tuesday. But got a work emergency today, I'll be back at it from Friday Nov 1st on for a week or two.
When I was out Friday evening I had 2 does come in. I could of shot one of them at about 30 yards but my uncle who owns the land doesn't want any does shot until after the rut. Been getting pictures of lots of different bucks, most 1.5-2.5 years old. This weekend should be good, I hope to be in the stand both days.
FIRST SNOW, FIRST SNOW, FIRST SNOW!!!!!! Im as giddy as a 3 year old at Toys R Us!!!! Hopefully I can bag something soon now!!!
Well guys between work and family life I haven't been out much, BUT. I shot a buck Sunday that should score 125-130, and I'm heading back to camp today for a doe or two. Although that may be tough, in my last 3 hunts I have seen 9 different bucks and not one doe. I know we have a lot of does on the land, just seems as if they are laying low. Good luck to all.
Headed out tomorrow!! We just got 11 inches of snow last night and its still on the ground so I'll be able to see whats been walking by. Hopefully I can stick one within the next couple days b/c shot gun season starts on Saturday and let me tell you, the dumb@$$'s come out of the wood work!! Its almost a suicide mission going out to the bow stand!
Congrats on the buck! Looks like a dandy. Will be out friday, saturday and sunday to hopefully harvest a buck. Haven't seen anything but little bucks chasing. Should pick up here in Iowa the next few days for me anyway. Good Luck Everyone!
