team 28 - Antler Assassins

Didn't see anything yesterday but we got some great news when we checked the field behind us and found tracks that look like are heading to my friend's farm and we now know where to set up. Going back out with him in the afternoon today.

well, i blew a slamdunk yesterday afternoon thanks to the help of an unseen barbwire fence. i had a doe at 20 yards broadside and hit the stupid wire fence. still the deflected shot almost got her. thankfully it was a clean miss. the elusive first bow kill is still there. how have the rest of you been doing? this was the first deer that i have seen this year.

 

Hey Team! Been out quite a bit lately with no luck. It has been extremely warm and I am not seeing any deer at all. Had two bucks come in late last night but it was too dark for a shot.

 

It's been slow here also guys, although I've only been out once and saw one doe. Keep hunting safe and smart all, the time we wait all year for will soon be upon us.

Pulled the card from the camera Saturday night. Got some good pictures of deer but hard to see. Here are two pictures of one deer that stood out to me. Looks like a dandy and he has a big body from what I can see. Let me know what you guys think.

Just checking in on everyone, still pretty dead around here. Not that I've been out, but talking with friends and family that are hunting now, they say it's sloooow. Looks like we may have a great cold spell next week, so I will try to get out during that.

 

Was out this evening, didn't see anything. I should be able to hunt quite a bit next weekend.

 

well another weekend went by with no deer sightings. i will have three days this week on a wildlife management area doe hunt, the only drawback to that is that this place is crawling with big bucks and my permit won't allow me to shoot them. hey 50 oints will be 50 points, i just hope that they have the crops harvested that are on this place

 

Good luck and have fun, you may not be able to shoot a buck. But sometimes doe only hunts have been some of my best for learning buck behavior.

 

Starting a new job Monday do I'm taking 4 days to hunt at my cabin. Hopefully activity has picked up a bit up there. The weather is getting cold which will help! Fingers crossed for a doe!

 

yes that's true i don't mind hunting does at all. just wish i could hunt bucks there. i have been drawn for this before and it is alot of fun. the experience of the hunt is the best part and the activity around camp at the end of the day just tops off the whole thing any deer is just a bonus.

 

Planning on a weekend hunt next week. Hopefully I shoot one for the team

 

Went out this afternoon. Saw around 10 does and a button buck. Got into the stand around 2:40 and had the first doe in the field within a couple minutes. After she left it was nothing till right before dark. That's when the field came alive. There were deer coming from everywhere it seemed like. Overall, I thought it was a good hunt with seeing deer that is. Will be getting out sunday and will hopefully score a buck for the team! Won't be able to doe hunt till I go back home to Illinois.

 

Got out Sunday morning and unfortunately did not get anything. Saw a lot of does but still now bucks. Pulled the trail cam cards and got two more shooter bucks that have recently showed up. Hopefully the hunting just gets better!

 

well no luck over the weekend. i had plenty of action but to my displeasure which seems weird i mostly had bucks showup. this stinks because i was doe only permit. i saw possiblly the biggest deer of my life at 12 yards and could only look at him. i did get 2 shots off and missed. not my day. can not hunt this weekend because of youth weekend here. the weather has turnes right finally.

 

What is going on team?? We need to get on the board! Late October and not even on the board yet. I hope to get at least a doe kill on this board by Monday. I'll be hunting hard this week/weekend. I head to Illinois for 10 days of straight hunting next Friday. Who is out hunting this week/weekend?
