I haven't talked to him since I shot my buck. I figured he would drop by and tell us he shot another muley in western KS
Looking ahead, I've probably got 8 more days I cant hunt until the season closes at the end of November. I'm hoping for deep snow and cold temps and a buck looking for corn.
I'm going out in the morning with my .44 revolver to try and shoot a doe. I love hunting with that thing, all I need is my handgun, 6 shots, and some warm clothes. No bag or any other junk
What kind of range do you limit yourself to with that? Red dot scope or open sights? Sounds kind of fun
I like to keep it under 20, but I feel confident out to 40. Mine just has open sights, I like not having to worry about holstering a scoped revolver. 2 years ago I dropped a doe in her tracks at 30 yards, man was that fun. I enjoy pistol hunting does just as much as bowhunting them. If you got into it, I don't think you would be disappointed
We've got plenty of time. If you remember, it went down to the wire last year, too. No need to give up just yet. I still have plans for a big score yet :D
Well looks like we don't have any snow in the 10 day forecast... kinda sad. I may hit the stand on Saturday morning, if the wife takes our little one with her. Good Luck in Iowa Tom, and those still out.
No deer today, but I did get to draw first blood with my new bow finally. Short weeks at work are killin me with small pay checks. The cats got to eat good today tho, I brought em home a squirrel for lunch
I will be hunting most of this week, the second shotgun season will likely have movement way down. I'm heading to a stand I set up two weeks ago to see if I can get an early morning doe, the bucks will most likely be bedded before I get out of bed in the morning
I'm on jury duty but I will try for a doe this weekend even though it is now the antlerless gun season from wed-sun. After that I have some archery only hunting for 2 weeks then it's back to a holiday gun deer season starting dec 24th down here in the CWD areas. This season will run until the first sunday in January. Way to many damn gun seasons!
Have been overwhelmed with family and work related issues for weeks so I have been unable to jump on here guys. Beginning again this weekend I will be out bow hunting thru the end of the IL and WI seasons, which ends mid-late January. I WILL be adding points by the end of the season/contest!! I agree with Tony...there are too dang many gun seasons in both states!
All I've seen all year are does and fork horns or spikes. I saw one little 5 point, but let him walk hoping for something better. I'm about to give in and shoot a little forkie tho. Very frustrating year for sure
I'm heading out Saturday morning and I dont care how cold it is. I have the right clothing for this weather so I'm going to try and get it done with a doe.
