Here is the doe I got on Thursday night before the gun season started. Judging by her teeth, I have to guess at least 6 years old..pretty worn down chompers. I wont be able to hunt for a few weeks now but with any luck, snow and cold may give me some hope for a mature buck yet. I'd like to see an up close pic of Bid Daddy, Jason!
Just wanted to share a gun kill up in the public northern bigwoods of wisconsin. Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 2
Happy Thanksgiving to all of you guys!! I hope you all have a wonderful day. Take a little time to think about the many blessings you have in your life. Today will be busy busy busy until lunch (starting as soon as I get off of here) then it's off to the woods for me and my Dad. I love those times together. I'll be having a little 'thank you' conversation with God when I get settled in my stand for the many things He's blessed me with
Happy Thanksgiving team. Mine is a little extra special with my son cole getting his first deer. Sent from my XT897 using Tapatalk 2
I found out this old boy finally hit the ground. He was unfortunately taken by an out of state hunter on opening day of MNs gun season. Would have been nice if a local could have at least gotten him. When they went to gut him they found he had two sacs, 4 nuts. He could have been extra fertile or he could have also been sterile which would explain why he was rarely seen in daylight and never slipped up during the rut.
^^^That is a crazy buck right there. Too bad you were not the one putting your tag on him. Bad news seems to be the theme for me this past week. 1. Missed the buck that busted me in my last post. He came into 30 yds and my arrow went right where I aimed. Only problem was that he turned at the SAME moment I released my arrow and the BH just missed his shoulder while he turned. Unless some one got him during the 1st shotgun weekend here in IL, I hope to see him again. After looking over some trail cam pics I am thinking minimum 160's. 2. I was not able to use my shotgun tag in west Central IL 'cause I had to teach a class at my hospital the night before the opener AND my wife came down with the flu. My neighbor was down bow hunting the property up until the opener and was seeing numerous big bucks on their feet the day before the opener in open fields with an hour before dark. GGRRRRR!!! I ended up hunting here in northern IL and taking a doe with my 20 ga. 3. Cyclops is dead. I received a text Wednesday night from my bow shop owner and he had a customer come in and she had pics of a deer her brother had just gotten. He was killed 6 miles from where I was getting pics of him. No measurements have been done yet, but he told me that he estimated that he will go over 180". The pic below was a 41 yr old guy I met at a check-in station in WI on Saturday morning. This guy had never seen this deer or even knew about it when he shot it Saturday morning. The measurement from the top of his G2 to the bottom of the longer droptime was 28.5". The mass on this buck was crazy! The best part was how he had the buck packed into the back of his Saturn!
Been real busy with school and mixing that with deer and duck hunting. Been shooting the hell out of the ducks, still waiting at a good chance at a good buck though. Looks like you guys are getting some opportunities! Keep it up and great job on the kills fellas.
Well my gun season is about over, I will be back out a few times in Dec with the bow after another buck or doe. Keep at it guys, we got this!
I've got my new Ballistic dialed in out to 50 yrds. Can't seem to get anything in close enough to shoot lately tho. Only decent buck I've see on the hoof was on my way to work a couple weeks ago. Seen plenty of little guys running around, but nothing worth shooting. I want to get something with this new bow sooooooo bad. It's getting a little frustrating lol. Got another shotgun season this coming weekend so who knows when they'll start making daytime appearances again. Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving
I have until the end of the year, but will prob only make it out 2 maybe 3 weekends. plan on going out Friday after work with the bow, and put my tag on a doe. Will play it by ear, but the following weekend may be looking up, if the snow holds off until then.
