Well guys I put one down tonight. It is definitely not the deer I was after but after eating my tag the last 2 years It feels good to have venison in the freezer. I will post pics tomorrow. Small 8, definitely not a "picket fence"..lol
Congrats on the buck! I'm getting a little frustrated to say the least. We get a lot of hunting pressure so I left a specific spot on the property off limits until this weekend. Saturday morning I had the biggest doe I have ever seen right at the fence jump and she didn't come over and I don't shoot across the fence into their property even though they don't hunt. I also had a small four point come through twice Saturday. This morning I took a buddy out with me and we decided to have him hunt the edge area. Walking in he jumped three or four deer who must have just bedded. I never saw anything so when we got down we looked where he jumped the deer and there were three beds with fresh scat. Tonight I decided not to go back in and hope the does will keep bedding in the area for next weekend. I do have two scrapes under the fence crossing stand and a few more in the vicinity but haven't seen any mature buck signs yet. I'm praying the rut hits next Saturday morning

Congrats jkcmerg... i have 1 more weekend untill the gun season starts here, so hoping to put another buck down, or a good doe. I'll be back at it on friday. This past weekend we had a lot of great bucks on there feet during daytime hours. had a great 10 point (100+) come within 25 yards, but had no shot as he was in the cornfield. hopping to get another shot at him.
How about a update team? I am heading out to my parents wed-fri in western bluff country of Wisconsin and in need of putting a doe down. Not just for points but for meat and I need a buck sticker so I can have a chance at a brute near home. My phone should be working fine now out there so send me some updates. Good luck Tony, I'll be heading out to the farm on Friday after work, and will hunt until Sunday afternoon. Would like to smack a doe, but have been seeing some great bucks on there feet, i know it doesn't help our score, but a nice buck would be a great way to end my bow season, as Michigan gun season starts Nov. 15. if i don't get a doe this weekend, i play on going out in December to get one.
Well gents my final push for archery starts tomorrow morning and ends next tuesday. After that I head up to the northwoods of Wisconsin for 11 days of which 7 are for the gun season. I will hunt some during the late season but I will still be competing with the Holiday gun season which runs until the first weekend of January. I hope to put a doe down and get a buck sticker then I can go after this big buck i've wanted so badly since last season here in my county.
