I just saw a really nice buck in the field up the road from my house. Sure wish I could get permission to hunt that edge, but they won't have any part of it. Saw 7 in field cpl miles from home at 5:20. Probably 60 yrds from road, just hang out and chowin down. Hope they're moving this good in the morning :) I just hung a new stand on some State land that usually produces some nice deer.

Cole just think what he will look like next year when we go for our threepeat :) Looks like it is going to be a great weekend to be in the stand and that's where I plan to be! Good luck guys let's get back on top.

Congrats! Glad to hear you got one. Don't forget some pics when you post the story.

I had one of the best hunts of my life yesterday AM in WI. I was about 80 yds in from a hay field on an oak ridge with two apple tree about 45 and 60 yds away. I had 12-14 deer within 40 yds including a 3.5 yr old buck. When I saw him coming towards me all I could see was his width (about out to the ears....17"?) and height (10-12") of his rack. Once he got broadside at 45 yds I could see stickers all over the place coming out the front and back. I got him to stop broadside at 38 yds and was fully drawn, but as luck has it there was a tree between us blocking out his entire vital area. He causally walked on. 1.5 yr old bucks were chasing does everywhere!

As good as the morning sit was I decided to sit the same stand in the PM as the NW wind was perfect. I got in at 2:45 and as I was attaching my harness rope I noticed movement below me. I had another 1.5 yr old buck directly below me. Not sure how he snuck in on me with the dry leaves all around! He smelled the area where I urinated from the stand in the morning and hung out within 15 yds for about 10 minutes then slowly walked off. That was it. Did not see or hear anymore deer. Was kind of surprised with all of the noise and commotion in the AM that there was not more movement.

Helped my Dad and a buddy scout some property nearby that they will be hunting the IL gun season. Saw 11 deer with one of them being a 150"+ buck. Hope they have an opportunity at taking him next month.

TIme to go take the kiddos to swim lessons. Good luck everyone!

LOL, we were so excited we forgot your name. I had a 2.5 year old 8 dogging a doe past my stand this morning at 7 yards. The bucks are out and about but I wouldnt say they are cruising hard. I have seen a few lone fawns though.

Peak it has been slow. I passed a 130" 9 pointer a couple of weeks ago then the next time I went to my lease I filmed for my son and it was really slow with all of the leaves dropping. I could not go this weekend because my wife went out with friends on Friday and my son played a football game at the Metrodome Saturday. I will be back out later this week but I need to get it done by Friday because shotgun season opens on Saturday. I think I am still just hunting 1 buck right now so I have a spot picked out where I think he will show up and I am going to wait him out :)

Good luck Tom. I'm hoping for some good action next weekend. Gonna go see if I can bust me a doe this evening. Would like to get one of her yearlings, as she's a good breeder. Hope she brings in a nice buck in next week or three.

Will not get out again until Friday. Monday-Thursday are 12-14 hour days this week :whip:

Haven't decided if I want to do a solo public land hunt 5 hours from home next week or hunt the SW WI private properties where I have been seeing deer. The public land has the possibility of booner quality bucks, but not as many sightings as the WI properties. Decisions!

Congrats Kyle on your buck. I had a great hunt on Saturday evening. I saw the 3.5yr old 11ptr but couldn't get him to come in. Then about a half hour later the big 9 ptr was coming in but then I think he caught my scent and jumped off to the left and walked away. Plan on trying to get out every day after work.
