I got some pretty good deer on camera this year already Just got to get some time away from work so I can get on here and start trash talking
I've only checked my cams once so far this summer and this is the biggest. I'm ready for late October when the big bucks show up on this property. Almost seems like a waste of time and money to run cameras for me this time of year.
Well guys, tomorrow i plan on making a trip out to my 2nd hunting land. putting out my MR and a camera. this will be the first time anyone has been out there, so can't wait to check the camera's later. Also will be putting a fall food plot out, about 1/4 acre. Can't wait to hunt my normal farm and aswell as getting out in this 2nd field.
Spent a day working on property that I hunt in SW WI last week. Really dry off that way with majority of the corn in one of the fields brown and less than waist high . I buried our kid's old kiddie pool on the property in a strategic location. As I finished burying it and filling it with as much water as I could pack I sat down to take a break. Within 5 minutes I had a doe come out of the the bordering thicket/bedding area. She walked right up to the pool and sniffed around it for what seemed like 10-15 minutes. Then, she leaned over and began drinking. Being less than 15 yards from her behind some brush while she was drinking she never knew I was currently there. It was a cool situation. Also, I hung 3 cameras on the property that I will check 9/15 (WI opening day). I'm trying a different technique this year. Historically, I would hang my camera close to my actual stand site. I would get a pic or 2 of a mature buck and then he would never return. I believe I was a educating those big boys. This year I have the cameras more out on the field edges where I do not hunt. Finally, I spent the evening glassing the property from a high point. I have done this for the past 5-6 years and the most deer I have ever seen was 3. This year 10! A bachelor group of 3 bucks, 3 does and 4 fawns. Also, this property historically had a lot of 'yotes around. The last couple of winters a group of local trappers/hunters have reduced the 'yote population a lot which will help with fawn survival I am hoping.
Isn't that cool when you can get that close to them Rizzo. Let me know if you need any help at that place. Heppy to come help you out.
It's OK, Cyclops is nowhere near that property or state. It would be nice to have someone haul water to my kiddie pool that was just placed on that property. I think Fergus could handle that!
Tom I was just thinking our team would look good in those new monster raxx camo hats for kill pics. :-)
I would go check my cameras, but after working 9 hours in 107 degree temps I don't feel like walking miles to switch cards Maybe tomorrow....
Cyclops 2009-2012. I passed this deer in 2009 and have seen him blossom into a nice buck. Unfortunately, I have not laid my eyes on him since Nov 2009...just trail cam pics. Tagging him would help our team this year! Here he is: 2009 2010 2011 2012
Mike that buck would help us this year for sure. Probably win the contest all by himself. lol Heck with the contest I just hope you get him.
