You guys that have scored recently....were you on field edges, acorns, any pattern?

I hunted the last three days and just did not see any does whatsoever. I saw a number of 1.5 year old bucks and tonight was given a 10 yard shot on a 3.5 year old 8 point. Pretty narrow rack but very nice mass and tine length. He was tough to pass. Where the does are is beyond me. It just shouldnt be this hard to get a doe early season!

Tom are you seeing does as we hunt fairly close?

The spot I shot my doe was loaded with acorns from white oaks and was the first time I ever hunted this spot.

Anybody getting else getting out during the week? I might be able to get an afternoon hunt in on Thursday, but I have a gastroscopy on Friday so I will be out of commission until Saturday. Hopefully Saturday morning I can get out again hopefully. I don't know how long it takes for the drugs to wear off, so we will see.

I have been seeing does. I have been hunting a saddle that comes up to a corn field that was just picked.

The tree I was in yesterday was about a foot from the creek bank. Creek behind me, CRP about 8 yrd in front of me. Both deer came from creek and were going to CRP. I had same problem as you last year. I saw lots of bucks, but rarely saw any does. Never could figure out what the deal was. I saw probably 4 bucks to each doe last year. Patience and persistance is the key. I still ended up with 5 deer down last year

I will be in a stand this afternoon hopefully. Gonna set up where I saw 6 does hammering the acorns the night I shot crooked brow. Should be a pretty sure fire hunt, as long as the guys haven't been working down there recently

I am heading back out to my parents and there should be some good hunting with the cold front here in full force.
