Team their may be a possible rule change and they want the team captains vote on it. Even then I'm not sure if I would vote for it. I just seen this for the first time and need to kick it around a bit in my peanut brain. They already get a slight advantage with the early season out west and shooting a velvet buck which adds to the score I believe. T
Here's an idea that you might want to consider: as we know that not everyone can shoot a doe but not everyone can shoot a 2nd buck also, what if we allowed people to use other bow harvests for example(turkey, elk, bear, coyote, doe, 2nd buck...etc) for the 50 additional points? No matter how you set the contest it will never be "fair" for everyone. If it is bucks only the hunters in the midwest probably have a better chance at shooting higher scoring animals. I enjoy having the doe or even the other bow killed animal as a 50 point option because I am selective on what size buck I shoot so it still allows me to contribute to the team even if I don't have a shot a "shooter" buck. Just my 2 cents. No matter what is decided I think that the change should be made starting next year since we already have animals entered.
I think it should stay as is. You'll never be able to accomodate everyones tags or seasons and I think 1 buck and 1 doe makes the contest nice, clean and straight forward and applies to the majority of the hunters n the contest.
I'm good with the current set of rules. As many have posted on that link there will always be someone who is unsatisfied with the way this FREE deer hunting contest is being run. In the end Tony whatever you decide I will support. One week from today I should be hunting. Long-range forecast calls for a low of 46 Friday night and a high of 70 on Saturday where I will be hunting in SW WI.
Here is what I wrote in that thread... I am not a captain but this thread is in a section where we can all voice are opinion. I dont like the idea of changing anything after the contest has already started. I know it was brought up before but it should have been voted on by a select few then. I think velvet adds more than 3-4 inches, I beleive it is closer to 10" and I do not think they should be penalized for that. I personally like it the way it is, for some one who is practicing deer management and shoots a doe he can help his team even if they sont get on a mature buck. I think if you start letting people use a second buck for a doe they are going to ask next if they can use the larger of the 2 bucks for there buck score. If you start changing now there will always be some one asking for another rule change...IMO why fix something that is not broken.

Haha Team 27 is my favorite team! I just go to the KSU games because my old man likes to go, I'm not a sports fan. I'm dove hunting right now. Pulled a card from the one local property I have around home (30 min away). This is the property I have been following Cyclops. I believe the larger buck below might be him, but not sure as the pics are not very clear. I do not see a reflection coming from his right eye as he walked by so I believe it is him as he is missing his right eye. The other pic is a couple of young guys that swing by every day right now. Hopefully, they can make it another 3 years or so.
3 weeks and a wake-up!! Holy cow I can hardly wait. We lost one property to hunt. jknierim and I checked on cpl new stand locations on another property we hunt. Might be a cpl promising sites. Checked camera from property an hour away yesterday and there's plenty of does at the new stand. As long as they stay around there the bucks should come home to papa :D
This morning I met up with a buddy as I have been frustrated with my hunting property. The dude knows deer and knocks down two mature bucks every season and literally gets down and dirty to locate bucks and their beds. We scoured the property and came up with an early season plan knowing that nobody will put pressure on one spot. The other is buried on a fence line where there was a decent bed and some old rubs. That stand will get hunted come Halloween week and after most likely. I need to go back next weekend to hang my sets, both will have run and gun setups with sticks. We did jump some does driving to the Eastern end of the property and the beans are getting thumped. I might target a doe my first night out where we bumped them to get on the board and then go into Buck mode. I really want to get 50 and then get lost where there will be little pressure from the other neighboring hunters.

Here is another pic of him. This is from the G3 on. It is crazy all of the different points from the bases and the brows. He has this going on both sides and points sticking out the sides as well. He is a 6x5 plus a number of scoreable points with atleast 20 total.
So you are already calling a victorious 2014?? Guess we could be on my team that year....if you sign up as an alternate and Team 35 (2012,2013,2014 Champions) need a fill in :D
