Florida is recounting their votes. Projections still have us winning by a slim margin...

I tend to agree. Maybe my expectations are too high, idk, but with all of the build up leading into this contest back in August I assumed it would end with more of a bang. That’s obviously not why we do it but it can’t be the that difficult to tally up the 3-4 new scores from the past week, post the final results, & make a formal announcement maybe a day or two after the contest is over.
Oh well, I’ll quit bi+ching and look forward to my bowhunt or die bumper sticker to arrive in the mail 3-6 months from now.

Found my 4th shed of the year yesterday, a solid 15-20" 2 point side with blood on the base. Even with a couple days of warm temperatures the snow was over a foot deep in most places, I got lucky that this buck shed most likely a night or two prior. Saw a GIANT this weekend with only a half hanging on, I will be out after work to check cameras and will post up some pictures.

I'm not getting my hopes up on any prize pack. we didn't get anything for winning the shed hunting contest last year. it was just fun hanging with you guys this season.

Benny is captain, right? Should we all send him our address so it's in one place for the mods?

Found a decent fresh one tonight checking cameras. Lack luster batch of pictures but that could definitely be my placement. Can’t seem to figure out the buck feeding patterns yet.

I walked through awesome deer habitat all day without finding a shed. I follow an electric tap up to an abandoned house and this guy is laying in the front yard. He must have been snacking on that juniper. 20190205_135306.jpg

Got my euro finally cleaned up. Pretty happy with how it cleaned up considering this was my first attempt at a DIY euro mount. I just about messed up and boiled the skull too much. You can see the skull started to seperate below the antler on the one side. You guys have any recommendations for whitening the skull? I’m leary about using any kind of bleach product because I don’t want the skull to weaken any more than it has already. I’ve heard of guys using a hydrogen peroxide/water mix, but I’m not sure what the best way to go is.

I have used both bleach/water and hydrogen peroxide/water. The ones that came out the whitest and have maintained the white the best we simmered in a low bleach/water mixture for about 30 minutes and then spent a day or two in the sun. But bleach can definitely harm around the teeth area. A safe bet is tooth brushing the skull with peroxide a dozen times. You did a great job cleaning it, it looks like! I'm a little curious as to what the back side of his 3 point side looks like, looks funky around the base.

Yeah it is. Shot him on September 18 and already got him back. Pretty happy with it. Had to wait to get the mount back because I didn't have any good recovery footage. So I'm going to pose with the mount to finish the video off.
