I wore my military camo last year but will be using mossy oak break up this year. May still use my military stuff during early season a little.

I am not a big buck killer like some on this team. 115 is my best. I will be hunting OH and PA this year on some public lands. I think the potential to a kill a bigger buck exists, but it will be extremely challenging because I don't know the lands and they will be pressured. We shall see.

I believe Lady Forge will take the top spot on the team with the monster she shot four or so years ago. I saw the mount in IL, great buck.

My top five; 162, 160, 156, 143, 138

Well guys I will post my hitlist bucks. Nothing too special but just a few bucks I have my eye on that I hope I at least see out in the woods. They all need another year to be something really nice but in my neck of the woods you take what you can get. These are bucks that are below my cabin. I do not hunt a whole lot down below the cabin a majority of my hunting is on the public lands near my cabin. The populations around the cabin have been pretty low the last couple years, but we have been baiting bear down there the last two summers so it is hard to judge. This year looks better than what it has been in the past though and the neighbors are also getting some pictures of some nice 8 pointers. I give most my better bucks names so I can track them in their own folders. Other bucks just get buck #1 buck #2 type names.

The first two bucks I just got photos of while we were driving down the road near the cabin last weekend. I havent gotten trail camera photos of these two yet. The eight pointer is pretty small havent named him yet and the spike I am naming Tony Gazelle. I wouldnt be sharing the spike but I find him to be unique as I have never seen a spike that tall, he is not on my hitlist just a neat looking buck.

Next is a buck I call Popeye. This buck has given us the most trail camera pictures of them all and I have watched him grow into what he is now. I think he must have found some spinach boost or something because he but on most of it in a 4 day stretch.
Popeye.jpg

The next two bucks I havent gotten a whole lot of pictures of unfortunately. These pictures are from the early part of July and they havent been back. I am hoping that changes during season. The first I named bullwinkle, no reasoning or thought went behind the name. Bullwinkle.jpg

Big Surprise is the other buck I havent gotten a lot of pics from but he surprised us all when we were scrolling through the pictures so we gave him the name of Big Surprise. I am really hoping that we see him while we are in the tree. I would like to see an updated trail camera picture of him as well. Big Surprise.jpg

My Dad will be grabbing the chip again for me this weekend. It will have two weeks worth of photos on it so I am hoping to see some more good pictures on there.

We are also going to be tilling up the small kill plot down by the bear bait on our property as soon as the gentlemen that we are letting bait there is done. We will be planting the brassica mix I am getting from Monster Raxx. Pretty excited to see how that turns out.

There now you all cant be afraid to show your bucks off after seeing my little things. haha

I am hoping that between my dad and I to add 3 more coverts to our line for next year. I would like to reach out to some of our other hunting areas. Right now I have my two coverts and he is running one of his on another bear bait.

Looking for my first deer with a bow. I've shot a few small bucks and does gun hunting but last year was my first bowhunting experience. I only spent about 10-15 days in the woods and never got a shot. I hope to translate what i learned into some meat in the freezer this year

I set my two cameras over salt licks this last weekend. I'm anxious to get up there and pull the cards to see what's there. It's in the big woods but still public land. I'm a bit nervous about leaving them out there but what ya gonna do?

I know what you mean. When I get more cameras I will be putting some of mine out on public land. I am super nervous about doing that. I might just put my dads old cheapos out there for a bit. At least until I get comfortable with the idea. Problem is they eat batteries like they are going out of style. I have python cables and lock boxes on my coverts but they are both on our land right now.

Well Lucky was the buck I was hoping to hunt this season but since I found him dead, I will now hunt a buck I call Smokey. Here is a video with Smokey in it from December of 2012, he is at the 1:10 min mark in the video.

I also found one of his sheds this spring Smokey shed 003.jpg Smokey shed 006.jpg and a I found a matched set from when I believe he was a 1.5 year old.
My biggest racked buck scored 191 4/8 gross Debs Big Buck.jpg net score was in the 180 somethings?

nsimmons, nice bucks on your cameras, I was using my cameras to pattern doe's since I hunt a earn a buck property but I had a few bucks show on film but they were all small guys.

That yellow band I put around his antler was a salvage tag issued by the Illinois Conservation Police.
It is required by Law in Illinois.

* Killed/injured by methods other than lawful hunting or a vehicle/deer accidentAny individual finding a dead or crippled deer, otherthan those killed/injured in a vehicle/deer collision or
legally taken by hunting methods, may not transport said deer parts until permission is obtained froma
Conservation Police Officer. Permission will be granted if it is determined that the person requesting
possession did not illegally kill or injure the deer. When retained, the head/antler and hide shall be
properly tagged with an irremovable tag obtained from a Conservation Police Officer. These tags must
remain attached as long as the head/antler or hide remains in the green state, or while in a commercial
manufacturing process.

I look forward to seeing your video. It sounds like it was neat to see in person.
