Our rut in this part of state is best the week after thanksgiving. ( I'll be in PA for rifle season). The rut in the state as a whole runs from late oct (on the coast) to January (south west corner) it's a screwy rut
Trials and tribulations of an out of state move. I love it here but come deer season I miss my old Ohio haunts. Funny thing is we can kill 12 deer 2 bucks 10 does rifle season opens Saturday and runs till end of January. Critters are a bit skittish.
Good luck Gr8. I know you will keep at it. I remember one season I had over 30 sits on public land and only saw 15 deer the entire year. It was rough.
Got my latest kill on video and finally had the time to process the footage ... here ya go
Took the last couple weekends off. Back at it this weekend. In the stand now. Excited. I think we might have some action tonight. Hopefully anyway. Woods is damp and quiet. Good luck out there Fall Legends! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Must be the weekend. Rained like crazy. Wet snow too. No deer though. Lots of squirrel and grouse hunters out there. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Up in a new tree tonight didn't really plan to hunt this weekend so this is bonus time for me. There wasn't any good trees to climb where I am because it's all a bunch of low saplings next to a field edge where there was 7 deer out last night. But I managed to find one to climb. I am feel like I am hunting off the ground because I didn't want to go too high and get skylighted just high enough to shoot to the field over the saplings. Well see how it goes, the wind is really swirling so let's hope it stays away from the deers' nose. Can't wait until my week off to bowhunt!! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I will be able to hunt two morning hunts this week....Wednesday in Virginia and the temps are supposed to drop 15 degrees with a storm front on the loom. And I will hunt PA Saturday morning and the overnight temps are supposed to be below freezing! Bring it.
Well, update from my last hunt...missed a doe at 40 yards. Wish I would have had my range finder on me I shot high and she ducked a bit. Oh well got that out of the way. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
I haven't made it out to hunt since opening day but I'm off next week and hunting is the only thing on the to-do list.
Thanks, I am hoping this 20 degree temp change shocks our skinny little VA deer into moving in the morning. We shall see.
I am getting really excited for the weekend. There is a little bit of snow on the ground up at the cabin and the possibility of a little more and low temps and DRY...sounding like a good combination to me!
Refletching some arrows tonight with my new glue, I will never go back to platinum glue again. Thinking about throwing my tube of it away. Goat Tuff Glue from here on out! Anybody else use this glue for fletching arrows? Or what do you all use? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk - now Free
