Deb, they need you to put the date of your doe kill on the entry thread before they enter it.

I am really excited to hunt the next three days. Goal: See a buck....yeah, just see one.

I had some luck in the evening :)
It was so windy - then the rain came. I decided to sit out in the blind on the land...and it worked in my favor!

It was about 3:30 Saturday and I jumped in the shower to get ready to go out for a nice night in the stand. I just get out of the shower and I hear the rain hitting the roof. My first thought was...Are you fricking (not exactly that word) kidding me? Every weekend it has rained. I decided it wasn't going to stop me, I was just going to change it up a bit. I decided to go out to the blind we built a couple years ago - it is carpeted and nice and warm - it will block the crazy wind and keep me dry. So, I did. I was out there and it was slowly creeping up on shooting time and I was tired of sitting. I laid my bow down on the carpet in front of the chair and stood up in the back corner of the blind to stretch.

Just when I got done stretching I hear a deer at full run - flying in to the foot plot and came right up to the blind. I slowly walked towards the side it ran to and looked down and she was standing right below the blind. Then another one came in and stood right next to that one. They slowly made their way out to the edge of the food plot. One kept going and the other one stopped. She turned broadside and I drew back. She turned. I stayed at full draw for what seemed like 5 minutes and she finally turned and gave me a clear shot and I pulled the trigger. Had great contact and she took off. I watched her run in to the woods and I thought I heard her crash. I waited a few minutes and climbed down and went back to the cabin. I told the guys I was very confident in my shot placement and we decided to eat dinner and then head out.

We got out there and there was blood everywhere - we followed the blood and found her right away. The guys took care of everything! From the time I shot her until she was butchered and in the freezer - it was 2 hours. They were so fast I barely got my pictures in! It was a great night.

Good stuff Melissa. You made the right choice on moving to another stand location and it paid off.

Team 27 should be feeling good. 5 deer on the ground and it is only Oct 14th.

I will hunt VA tomorrow afternoon, then again on the morning of the 23rd. Starting next Monday I have two weeks of training at work and will not be able to hunt but one day during that time frame. :( BUT, I will be off from Nov. 2-18th. :)
