Well the weather looks worse than earlier predicted for the weekend. I won't be driving all the way up to the cabin to hunt instead. I am going to hunt around home and hope the weather man is wrong and I can get out if there is a gap in the weather in the morning or night.

80 percent with severe weather doesn't look promising though

It sure doesn't look promising! I have been watching it all week and at one point it said 30% chance - now there is no doubt. We will still be going up anyway though. That is pretty much our weekend home anyway. Ha! I would normally just run out and hunt in our blind we built, but it is youth hunt this weekend and so we are letting my brother in law bring his nephew out there for his first hunt ever. Otherwise, this would be protecting me from the elements:

Dang do you get the packer games in that stand too!? Haha

Yeah it's definitely going to rain we consider our cabin our weekend home too. Washer dryer shower, the whole shabang. This week my parents are not going up since my dad is returning from a South Dakota hunt tonight (he shot a doe out there) .So he is going to stay home this weekend to recoup so it will be less fun at the cabin if it is raining the whole time.

I keep forgetting that it is the youth hunt this weekend. Maybe I'll just throw some orange on and use this as a chance to get out and scout some new grounds. Good time to do it in the rain to eliminate scent. Plus good hunting is right around the corner.

Ha! Not the Packer game - maybe the Vikings game though :). My husband is the Packer fan and daily tries to recruit me - but it just isn't going to happen. I enjoy being disappointed year after year!

Did your dad get snowed on? I saw some areas of SD got a foot of snow...Yikes!

Yes, it is the youth hunt this weekend so between that and the rain - I am not too motivated. But, I hope the little guy gets one! But, if it doesn't rain - I will get out there! Otherwise - my hopes are for next weekend!

Ah your one of those folks lol have fun with that ;). I loved when I worked downtown Minneapolis I could listen to all the people on the bus crying about how bad the team did on my way to and from work.

I don't think he got snowed on but I didn't talk to him too much. He said the wind was blowing 50 mph and it was raining sideways one day.

My dad texted me a little bit ago and well be going goose and duck hunting this weekend instead. Should be a good time, at least well be out hunting anyways. I am sure our dog is dying to get back in the field since my dad hasn't been home

Good luck to your youth hunter this weekend! I remember them first deer hunts with my dad to this day.

Drove out to SD last night through fog, hail, sideways rain, t-storms, the whole shebang. We are here for the the youth Pheasant opener. Supposed to rain all day but its let up for a bit this morning. I hope we get som breaks so we can chase some of these Chinese chickens between the bouts if rain. We need to get my 12 year old his first bird. My 14 year old is the savvy veteran. Should be fun though. Looking forward to the hunt. Staying till Monday

We got some rain in chippewa falls while duck hunting this morning. Had a blast we got 4 ducks. Not as much rain as what the weather man predicted. Grr

80 yds? Man you must be a sniper with your bow because anything over 30yds for me seems far. Good luck tomorrow.

Lol I ain't a sniper by any means(hence the miss) just young and dumb and gotta learn what patience is. I was walking through an open field to my stand and we both spotted each other at the same time and lost my since.

I used my old Archers Choice Camera Arm, since I sold my newer one to Oly ( I didnt care for it to much, but I did like its lighter weight ) since the Archers Choice is heavy.

So far it's working out for me. The climber mount for it is really nice. I'm glad I went with that instead of attaching it to the tree every time.

MN. That is awesome you are teaching the younger ones how to hunt. Very good. I had to learn on my own and it wasnt easy. I feel some good luck coming your way.
