Now that's the dedication we need, skipping work!! Wish I could be out there with you.

I have decided that I am going to go out and drive to a new area of public land by me tonight and find a spot to enter the woods at for a possible hunt/ scouting trip tomorrow.

Most my hunting in the past has been solo. I have my girlfriend under my wing right now getting her comfortable in a treestand and helping her out and stuff. Also trying to get her first deer on film. When the hunting starts to heat up I will be in separate trees from her probably only a couple hundred yards away. I'm hoping to get out on a couple solo hunts when she is busy early on as well

Found a spot where I am going to enter Tom, I am going to leave early and scout as I go in. This is big thick woods without a cornfield within a few miles. What are you folks looking for when scouting at this time of year?

I will be looking for an oak flat and trails funneling together. That water interests me some to. That is a creek that runs through a swampy area. Anything catch your eye...I know it's far away[IMG]

The purple dot is where I'll be entering on a trail

Just took a shot at doe. Clean miss right underneath her it was right at sunset so I don't feel too bad I don't have to track in the dark. Oh well I'll try again tomorrow

I guessed wrong. I stepped it off at 37 yards. Too far for me I know. Saw my arrow go right underneath her. I found it in the grass right away. No blood if course. She ran about 40 yards and stopped in the brush and blew like crazy at me. She must have been mad as hell!

Yeah that is quite a poke in the woods for anybody. Last year I shot my deer at 43 yards but I was in a an area of woods that wasnt very thick. This past offseason I picked up a Chuck Adams edition Bushnell Range finder for pretty cheap and I love it. Definitely worth having

Good luck BLT. I can feel a kill coming soon.....

I should be in the stand next week for 3 or so half day hunts. I have had some major issues with my equipment.

Keep at it Bootleg....it will come together

As for me, I am so sick and tired of tinkering with my ten year old bow. I decided to suck it up and buy another bow. It ain't top of the line but it works for me....

No luck for me this past weekend. I did end up getting a few ducks and geese with some buddies on Sunday morning while being extremely hungover in the duck blind from Oktoberfest the night before.

I've had 5 sits, (on one it poured the whole time so I don't really count that one,) and I've seen two does. Spooked one and missed the other. I'm going to keep tying until I connect for my first bow kill! I'll get there, it's a long season.
