Pulled my card for my camera on public land in LA today. Nothing special as of yet. Does and small bucks. I typically don’t get good pics till November though. Plenty of deer jerky on camera though!
If it doesn’t come a down pour tomorrow, I’m gonna try to get my place behind my house set up. Nothing like having a stand 100 yards from your backdoor.

How many of you guys will be hunting opening day of your state's deer season. I will be out for Ohio's opener September 29th.

 

I’m actually going to be missing opening day. I get off work at 8am and have a wedding that evening. Probably won’t be able to get out Sunday either with the drive home in the morning and a 1pm Packers game (I never miss em, for anything).

Well, I work midnights too. But, seeing that I am the boss on midnights I scheduled myself off Friday night. It's nice when you make the schedule.

 

I work 24s, got two weeks off at the end of Oct/beginning of Nov and two more weeks in mid November.

I've got my vacation set for last week of October and first 2 weeks of November.

 

I will stands. Opens sept. 23 here and then elk.

I will miss the Arkansas opener due to the elk hunt. I will be in the stand as much as I can on weekends aftet that. Not taking any extra time off during the rut this year due to the trip. Just weekend hunting for me with long weekends for Veterans Day and Thanksgiving.

I’ll be out trying to whack a doe. Taking a few days off first week of November to hunt the rut

 

I’ll be out Sunday in Ohio, have a wedding opening day.

 

Wedding season always screws me that time of year as well.

Unless there is a monster buck frequenting my cams in daylight, the early season for me is working on getting my grandson his first deer/buck. He has been a huge help to me this year and he is only 11. He is really getting that deer hunting craze in him if you know what I mean.

 

That’s awsome Shawn, I remember my first buck. Man how sweet that day was !

 

That’s what it’s all about. My boys are still a little young but they already know about deer hunting and both have bows and can’t wait to start.

 

Yeah man, I didn't kill my first deer til I was 22. My first buck I was 30. Once I started bow hunting after that everything changed. Over the past 20 years of bow hunting I have put down a lot of deer. Including several nice bucks. My son shot his first deer at 13 and his first buck at 14. My other son killed his 1 and only deer when he was back from the Afghani war in 2011. He was 25. My daughter has been out a few times and has had a few opportunities but only wants to shoot a true monster. These and times like these are what we live for.

 

I will be out Sept 1 for Nebraska’s opener. Going to our cabin with family so may have another sit with my son(12) for him to crossbow hunt. He shoots a compound with me just not enough strength to kill one with it. I have 2 weeks off at the end of October/November to get out. Also got a couple long weekends that I plan on hunting throughout September and October.
