well team, after 4 years of chasing this guy, i finaaly got a crack at him last night. my rule of thumb is that to NEVER sit untill dark-thirty. i always leave my stand when i feel i can no longer judge what a buck may be. over the years, i've shot a few bucks that i thought looked bigger than they were. got a pile of 115-125 inch racks because of it:p

yesterday was my Bday and i've yet to shoot a biggie that day. i was getting out last night at 4-5 minutes before dark when i changed my mind and decided i'd stick it out for 5 more minute. he came out of the bedding area as i was putting my arrow away and i only had seconds to regroup and take the shot. bout 18 yards.
the shot did not feel right for some reason. went in this early a.m. and found i scewered a small tree.
really bummed out i finnaly got a shot at the old devil and whiffed. sure am glad though it was a clean miss.
and YES, it was still legal time but i seldom hunt field edges and mostly hunt the thick stuff where things get dark before they do in the open.
    sorry team....................i feel "deplorable":lmao:

Bucksnbears that's tough! I have a confession i missed a buck last sunday moring, luckily i had a clean miss as well. First deer I've missed since the first deer I took a shot at, when I didn't account for the drop of my tracker string!!!I only work one day this week and i'll be hunting very hard. I moved 2 cameras to some new ground hoping for some better daylight movement. Ok/sooner Congrats! I have to young boys and I can't wait for the same moment!

Finally got a little action today. Had a "spike" with 10 inch curved antlers come by and he only had one eye. Looks like they left eye was either gouged out or darn near close to it. Looked to be a recent injury. Had an unknown buck chase something down low on the terrain about an hour later. Back at it tomorrow.

I had a great hunt on halloween! I didn't get a shot, but i have a target buck in range. However the doe that they were chasing got right under my stand and got buggered up. It was a 3 deer freeze session i couldn't make a move, because it would have been game over. I just had to watch as a nice 10 pointer stood 35 yards broadside. Well with the windy conditions and the fact the doe got some of me they ended up walking off, but not running. It was a great rush, I'll be out in the morning trying to get it done.

got in a stand at 3:45 yesterday. had 8 deer in front of me at 4;15 feeding peacefully in a small clover field untill my dog started barking at the cabin 200 yards away. he NEVER does that!!!. the deer boogered off, i ran to the cabin and thumped his skull, got back in the tree and only seen 5 more till dark.

Sorry for the suspense...I shot a doe. I wasn't really planning on taking a doe but I couldn't hold back 18 yard shot. IMG_20161102_203053181.jpg

Thanks guys, I believe i registered for the contest correctly on the scorecard thread. Don't worry i'm still hitting it hard for a buck. Taking the morning off to change the oil in my truck, take the kids to school, and take care of this doe. I'll be out tonight and most of the day Friday, Sunday, next Tuesday, and veterans day. Team 26 is in the hunt lets do this guys!! Chasing seems to be hot and cold where i'm at. Monday i had good action. Yesterday I saw a small buck on the move at 3:30 then the does didnt start moving till hour before dark. I had 5 does around me and no bucks. Of course i was getting snorted at during the recovery so i'm sure i buggered it up a bit.

OK/Sooner, make sure to post up your buck kill! Do you guys get more than 1 buck tag in OK? My aunt lives in Ardmore, OK. I've been out there a few times, the last of which was like 6 to 7 years ago. Time flies.
