48 degrees and a northwest breeze here in western KY. First day I haven't used a thermacell or repellant. Starting to feel like bow season!

Was going to head out and hunt but it's been a long last couple of weeks. Gonna get dinner with the kids and watch a movie on the couch instead of hunt this evening. The temps are supposed to drop over 20 degrees between now and in the morning. I'll be out the next 2 mornings. Gonna be a little more aggressive.

Had two does come through this morning at 40. I'm on buck kill mode for a few weeks anyways.

Any of you guys hitting the woods this weekend?

One more hour of work for me then I get two days off to hunt. Had to work 3 12's so by the time I get off work it's dark. Good news is I have been seeing bucks every sit now. Just waiting on the right one.

I am going to start hitting it hard this weekend. Here are some pictures of the new rub tree I just put out last week.

Every decent buck picture I have gotten up to this point is after dark. I would expect for that to change in the next day or two.

    Good luck Fletch.

I saw a 2 year old trotting after some does this morning in my neighborhood. Not real aggressive but things are def picking up quick.

    Just saw this, sorry.

We probably have too many does. I really need to take a bunch this year. I saw between 30 and 40 does on Saturday evening. With all of that activity, only two young bucks showed themselves. Call that what you want, but I call it the lull. lol

No luck last weekend on public land. Only saw a young buck the first night but didn't stay long enough, he was in and out quickly. Didn't see anything the rest of the weekend. Not happy but learned a lot.

Well I had a plan yesterday to hunt a set on the logging trail leading to my little clover/ryegrass plot back in off the main fields. The plot sits right next to a bug brushy thicket the deer use to go back and forth to a large ag field to my north. I ran into the plot and checked the camera and saw it had a good buck on it just after dark checking the mock scrape I started a few weeks ago. I have a stand that sits in the plot right over said scrape. I decided even with a marginal wind to hunt the plot. The side that faces the thicket and the scrape would be enough out of my wind. I refeshed the scrape and climbed up. Around 5 i could hear something moving slowly through the thicket. I could see white so i grabbed my bow and sat it in my lap. He came within 30 ft of the scrape from inside the ticket. I could tell he was agrivated by it even though it was up-wind of him. I went to take the bow off my lap and bang! Nailed a zipper on my pocket. I know it wasnt that loud but it sounded like a gong to both of us. We had about a 3 min staring contest. Finally he decided to risk it. The scrape was just too hot for him to handle, he had to check it out. He licked the banch thew a little dirt around and walked right into my shooting lane. He didnt make it 60 yards outa the plot and crashed
