<<<<TEAM 26 Thread>>>> I have to work all weekend. I was out twice last week but didn't see see anything. I'll be out next weekend in volo, i won a lottery. I'm Excited!!
Hope you guys are eating up and storing energy like the bucks we are hunting. The intensity is about to begin.
howdy fellas. done bear hunting for the year so time to chase whiteys. just checked a mock scrape i put out a month ago and had 12 different bucks working it. none i will shoot yet but hopefully things start ramping up soon. congrats for those getting us on the board
They work! So do the rub trees. I have had bucks hit them the very first night I put them up. Shed has a great article on here about mock scrapes. He got me started using the Buck Fever Synthetics and I love them. Good luck!
Here is the rub tree I put out yesterday. It is 20 yards from a stand. I put it in a 3 acre clover field that I seeded last October. The stand of clover I got is amazing. The deer are pounding it.
That is awesome Fletch, let me know how that rub tree gets worked. I remembered you talking about Buck Fever Synthetics so I got the forehead gland spray from them. I made two mock scrapes and used the spray on overhanging branches. I also used it above a primary scrape that already had a licking branch. I ordered my first trail cam and it should arrive soon. I am not messing with those scrapes until I can do it when the ground is real wet and quiet. Refresh and get the heck out of there. I am eager to see what is moving through my back woods. Once I start getting trail cam pics of decent bucks moving during daylight I will hit it. My backwoods only allow me a couple hunts during the rut without over pressuring it. I want to time it correctly.
I'm heading out this Friday and then Sunday morning. i'm hoping to get on the board. Its been to hot and buggy for me this last week or so.
Great plan and good luck. You will have a lot of fun with a trail camera on a scrape. It always amazes me how much traffic some of them get. We just got a cold front today and I am busy the rest of the week, but hope to get out this weekend. Bill Winke lives just East of me and he killed the buck he has been after for three years on Tuesday evening at last light. That's the first really mature buck that I have heard of getting killed around here and it was within the last 5 minutes of light.
Man you guys have some giants out there. That is fantastic and congratulations to Bill. That cold front might do the trick. We have a cold front moving through for a couple of days. Might be able to hunt Sat and Sun morning for a few hours. If I do I will get aggressive on some spots.
Just checked my mock scrapes after about a week and refreshed. One looked worked a bit. However it looks like a couple of smaller scrapes popped up next to two of mine, like within feet. Trail cam should arrive within a week and I will place it in a small funnel near those scrapes. Trying not to leave much scent.
New scrapes opening up around yours is a great sign. It's all communication, and that creates interest among all deer in that area. I love sitting near hot scrapes in the pre-rut. It makes for some really fun sits! You are well on your way to having a lot of fun for sure.
Well I just passed this dude up at 8 yards. He came in 10 minutes before dark will a small fork horn. I hope I don't regret that decision. I've got some better bucks in the area though. Sent from my SAMSUNG-SM-G890A using Tapatalk
