What is your plan for the rest of the season since Ohio is a one buck state? Chase does or will you look at hunting another state?

Normally I would go out to Missouri for some hunting on our family farm but I just started a new job and really can't get any time off so I am still able to take a couple doe here and get my son a buck hopefully

Well I don’t know if the bucks have ran the does off to somewhere else or food sources have changed, but all sign has dried up on the 40 acres behind my house. I’ve hunted a lot so it could be pressure also, but with as much rain as we’ve had, I figured hunting the same stand multiple days in a row wouldn’t be a big deal when it rains every night. We’ve had an East wind for the past few days, so I also have a theory that they’re bedding on the opposite side of the ridge.

My side faces North and East so a SW wind blows perfect for them to smell behind and look forward. So with a NE wind maybe there bedding on the opposite side. Been pretty discouraging seeing nice bucks and not having a shot and then they just disappear.

I’m going to back out and hunt about a 1/4 mile down the road this afternoon and see what’s going on in there. I’ve been brainstorming in hopes to come up with a plan that will put me in front of some shooter bucks. This year is going about like last year with the amount of activity I’m seeing. I made the mistake last year of doing the same thing over and over, so this year I’m going to make some different moves.
    Good luck to everybody hunting!

I’ve notice that all the sign has been at night for me in the last week and a half but I think it’s because the bucks have pushed the does across the road and come back around 10 11 at night my land sucks for the right night just go hunt the public more and see what the trail cam says week by week

I’m switching gears today, sighting of a double drop tine chasing off a little buck at my parents. Not a good pic but he’s big. A lot of talk about him out by my parents. My wife says I’m trying to hard and that’s why I haven’t killed a big buck in two years lol

OHbowhunter that's a great buck for sure, Congratulations again. Sorry again guys that I haven't been around much lately.... Thursday should be my last day of all day processing on deer! After that I finally get to go back hunting lol. Good luck to you guys and I'll try to check back in more often.

Only saw 2 does last night. Back at work this evening from my 11 day vacation. I hunted all but two days I think. Figured for sure I’d have a buck down by now, but I guess I did see bucks, just passed on them. I’m sort of out of aces up my sleeves, so now I’m just going to grind on and hit the different properties I have to hunt and try not to over pressure spots.
    Good luck guys!

    Thanks guys!

I may not make it out this weekend to whack a doe due to my daughter being in a parade tomorrow morning and in a local Dancing with the Stars show tomorrow evening. Not sure about Sunday morning yet but I have a feeling I may have to come into work because we are swamped.

Good luck whoever is getting out! A deer will fall this weekend for the team.. I can feel it!

Your intuitions are good. I just shot a buck, watched him go down, and now giving him some time. I’m fired up! He looked decent, but he came in behind me and I didn’t get time to analyze

Well, he came in down off the ridge upwind of me. I didn’t see him until he was checking the mock scrape I have set up really close to my stand. It was really how I thought it was supposed to happen when I set the stand up. 5 yard shot to the heart. I’ll get the tape on him and the two pics date and time on the scorecard in a bit[IMG]

Sweet slickbilly! That is a great buck!! You guys are on fire! I need to get my butt into gear. I am taking the week of Thanksgiving off and plan to hunt quite a bit at my parents land in Kentucky. Should be no reason I can't score big there. Can't wait!

Thanks! I was pumped. The last buck I killed was in 2014 (besides last years button buck I thought was a doe) and it was a shotgun buck. This is my first actual bow buck. I hunted a bunch in 2015 and 2016 but everything that could go wrong went wrong those two years lol.
