Congrats on the doe slickbilly-d!! I've been super busy the last week with work and the baby. Got a vacation coming up the week after next, and also the week of Dec. 4. I'm bummed today since my father and buddy are heading out to Illinois for our annual hunting trip and I can't make it this year. They will be out there for two weeks too, which rubs the salt further into my wounds haha! I will be able to get out this afternoon once I get out of work, and I'll also be hunting a few mornings next week as well. Good luck to all!
Been in the woods the last 3 days and have seen a ton of does. Hopefully a buck shows up with them soon. Just started getting pictures of this guy the last couple days. Love to get a shot at him!!
What?!?! Atta boy OHbowhunter! Congrats man. That is a stud!! Better than I have ever shot. Great work man. Looking forward to getting the details about the hunt. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
Thanks folks! Really it was a pretty fast process. We hunted the morning and from the deer movement we saw Friday and Saturday morning we needed to make a little adjustments along a ridge. So my boss set up on the west end of it and inset up on the east end. Around 330 he had a nice buck at 75 yards but wouldn't respond to grunts. Shortly after I had a doe pass by a good ways off as well. Nothing until just after 5pm I look over my left shoulder and there was my buck walking along. Since he was over my left shoulder I was able to make minimal movement to grab my bow as it hangs on my left side. I grabbed my bow when his head was behind a large tree. When he made it to the next tree I drew back then after he stepped out from behind it I let the arrow fly. Upon impact he spun around to his left, made a 180 and ran behind me in a half circle. I was able to watch him almost the entire time crashing through briars and trees. Once I saw him stumbling how he was I knew it was game over. I heard 1 last crash 60 yards off and I knew he was dead. He fell in thick stuff where I couldn't see him laying but I knew he was done. Before I could even hang my bow up my phone vibrates. Boss asked "did you just shoot" I said yup I nailed him! So I got down after about 45 minutes and walked right up to him. It all happened in a matter of 10 seconds. Very cool hunt OH. Thanks for the details! Congrats again. He looks like a stud in those new pics. Love it! Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
No not really. This buck was just kind of casually walking around looking. He wasn't hot on a doe or any. I think the younger ones are more curious now. I think it's about to get pretty heavy fairly soon though. The doe I saw before the buck was alone and not being chased and nothing responded to my can doe call yet either Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Thanks.. He's not even the biggest buck rack wise on that property but he definitely had a heck of a body on him! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
