High of 53 today with wind out of NNW 6-8 mph. BP is supposed to be around 30.20 all day, blue bird skies. Should be a good day. I am planning on going back into a doe bedding area I found a couple of weeks ago in a river bottom. I had two does bedded at 50 yards but they never came close enough for a shot. Should be in the stand are 2 pm and have about 3 1/2 hours of daylight.

Change of plans. Looks like the front has passed and the rain is over. I’m dressed and will be in the tree by noon.

I ended my hunt with 3 bucks. A four point, a spike and a 3yr old 8 point about 100 inches. I will be out again in the morning. Tomorrow will be the coldest morning so far with a low of about 20.
No sir he was very jumpy. So I let him walk to night plus he never really gave me the shot I wanted. I learned that lesson a long time ago I don't take bad shots or shot I'm not comfortable woth.there is always another day as in the morning. I ended up having a good hunt on public land in Arkansas tonight. Saw two does, a little forkie, and a decent 8 point that was with one of the does. My plan worked perfectly, the doe led the buck down to the creek behind me for a drink at 4:20 pm. I stood up to shoot the doe because I thought she was alone. She caught me drawing and ran back to the ede of the CRP about 40 yarda away and stopped. I saw the buck as she was running. I had him broadside at 23 yards but his vitals were blocked by a few small trees. He stood there for a few seconds and then took off after her. They stopped about 70 yards away on the far edge of the CRP. I grunted a few times and the buck started thrashing a tree. He looked over a view times and I thought he was going to come in but he ended up following the doe away. The other doe was by herself. Both her and the forkie were never close enough for a shot. Only make second sit on this piece of public land. I saw two does bedded at 60 when I hunted two weeks ago that never gave me a shot. I think I may have a little public land sweet spot. Best public land archery hunt I have ever had. Still looking for my first archery kill on public land. I used to be in a club but decided not to spend the money this year since my wife is being a stay-at-home mom with our surprise baby boy that we had last year. Well boys, had an issue come up yesterday morning at work... https://www.morningjournal.com/news...cle_1eb6c388-e442-11e8-a930-132a5921620c.html I’m fine but gonna be a little hobbled for the next week or so cuz i don’t want to bust my stitches or get an infection, but I’ll be in the woods.
