Yep, I've seen a number of small bucks all last week. Still getting pics of my shooters on the cams so I know they are there and it's just a matter of time before they show themselves in daylight.
Shawn. What day/days have you seen the most mature buck movement during the past in this area? My best day has usually been Nov 5.
I don't know if I could give you a certain day, but I would have to say the 4th through the 9th is by far the best time to be in a stand as long as possible.
But, this week leading up to that is also really hard to beat. Probably my favorite week to hunt. Bucks really respond to calling, rattling/grunting and you better be ready if there's a nice buck in ear shot. One time I was rattling and the corn wasn't cut yet and I heard this loud crashing coming through the corn. I watched corn stalks falling, flying as this buck was coming full steam towards my rattling. I actually dropped my antlers and they clanged off the stand as I grabbed my bow. He appeared and I let him have it. Was a nice 2 year old. Thought he was bigger than he was but man did that hunt ever have my heart thumping watching those corn stalks flying as that buck was charging towards me.
Yeah that sounds like an exciting hunt for sure. I’ve done really well these days leading up to holloween. Everybody talks about November but I think it’s more like Oct 25-Nov 9 in my area. I just finally got all of my stuff dried out from hunting in the rain yesterday. If it stops before morning I’ll probably try my first morning sit at the Christmas tree farm stand. I’m still amazed how attracted to these trees these deer are. They seem to be completely comfortable just moving around in them hours before dark.
I’m in the tree. Also, I like the last week of October better than the middle of November IMO. The bucks are easier to pattern still...once does go into estrus it turns into a free for all and the pattern is gone. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Yeah he actually waltzed by the other day on one of my cameras. Approx. an hour before I got in that tree. I will dig it up!
