I take it one was dead? That’s a shame. Surprising that they were looked up this early in fall. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I thought the same thing. Just coming out of velvet. Usually don't go at it yet. But stranger things happen in the deer world.
How in the world. I thought things like this didnt happen until November. Sent from my SM-G955U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Got a call from my farmer, he was at a different farm about 2 miles away and found them while cutting alfalfa. When I showed up there was a few Sherriffs (also buddies) and the neighboring game warden who covers for ours while he’s on deployment. He was trying to shoot the dead bucks antlers with a .22. I told him that was silly and cut the dead bucks antlers off with a saws all. The alive and bigger buck jumped up and took off. I had this happen on a neighboring farm 2 years ago during the same time of year. These bucks aren’t fighting to the death I don’t think, just sparring...but all it takes is the wrong angle and your stuck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
So true. Just takes 1 wrong turn, even just slightly sparring/playing, and it could definitely happen.
Just went to two different farms I hunt, pulled cams and moved my last stand. There was a fresh scrape by one one stand, I have a cam over the field hopefully it caught th culprit, I’ll post some pics up once I check them .
Unfortunately we didn’t get as much video as I wanted but I did get some that will be on my next episode. I’ll hopefully have that posted on Wednesday. Would love if you guys shared some of my stuff when I do. YouTube has killed the hunting video market with its liberalism. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry brother but I don’t do social media except for this forum. I got rid of it years ago, best decision I’ve made.
Let's see if this works. These were the two boys I was going for last year. As far as I know no one got either one of these deer. They have not shown themselves yet, but I can only imagine how big they've gotten if still alive. First one: Big 10 pt that was my number 1 last year Second: 12 point that looked young body wise. Third: different angle Fourth: a buck that was walking by frequently with both sides of his rack. One evening he walked by with one side of his rack. Come shotgun season we were doing a drive through the property and I came across the other half of the rack. I will try and dig it up.
I know a few of you guys have started elk hunting but who has all started deer hunting? Does anyone start this week? I've got 12 more days here.
We do not start until October 1st. counting down the days until we can be sitting in a deer stand. Right now it is still in the mid nineties for the rest of this week and in the eighties all of next week. So right now the big thing as it needs to cool off before I am going to be itching to get into a deer stand. Sent from my SM-G955U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Right now my long range forecast for opening day is a high of 69 and low of 53 with a 40% chance of showers. Of course being 12 days away that will change about 50 times til we get 2-3 days out. Then I can actually start looking at it seriously.
My season has started. Saw deer but too warm. I am going out for 4 days this week so hopefully a doe will be down. The temp is dropping 20 degrees so that should get them moving. High of 70. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
My season came in this past Saturday in a certain area, the state opens up the 29th along with Ohio. I’ll be hunting some urban areas this week. Should have a doe down, maybe a bonus big city buck will show up.
Good luck gents! I’m mowing a few of my plots tomorrow and replanting a failed brassica plot with oats. Might throw up some mock scrapes as well. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
