Yes sir it's about right for this time of year tho. I think it's feeding pups an they only eat the richest meat then. Or at least that is what was explained to me Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
Been a lot of snake around my area this year, I saw more this year than my whole life, hope it’s not a bad sign haha. I’ve been trying not to post pics of the main bucks I'm after this year, but just got this one at the farm I hunt around home. There’s a really big 10 on this same prop I’m after. Sorry for the second rate pic, I was pressed for time.
Possibly checking cams tomorrow. They have been REALLY slow lately. Time to move them to better areas and licking branches. Good plots are still bad, I’ll have to concentrate on the good ones for now. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I will because it is usually cooler than in the afternoons for the first couple of weeks of the season. Starting mid-October, I will only hunt evenings. During rut, usually the starting the second week of November I will hunt mornings. After the rut is over, I hunt only evenings. I find deer movement to be sporadic at best in the morning outside of the rut.
At the start of the season I hunt when I can. I have no real preference. Most of my setups are travel corridors so I catch em either coming or going. Starting about the 3rd to 4th week of October I favor mornings but will still hunt evenings as well. When pre-rut and rut rolls around I get out anytime I can. Late season gets here it's all evenings unless I see good movement on the cams then I may do a morning or 2 here and there.
Guess I’m the only one not hunting mornings until the rut. I just don’t have any spots I can get into clean without spooking deer in the mornings.
Usually all I get is mornings because my wife hunts also. So since we have small boys that can't got yet. She takes the evening hunts an intake the morning. It works but this year looks like during archery season I'll get to hunt evenings as well since she isn't comfortable with her bow yet Sent from my Moto Z (2) using Tapatalk
I'm usually in the stand in the morning for 30 to 45 minutes sitting in the dark. Have I spooked deer going in on occasion, yes. But, I have spooked deer and still killed some very nice deer at the crack of first light. Even after spooking them.
I have stands that are set up for both morning and afternoon hunts. The stands next to ag fields I only hunt in the afternoon.
I only have one spot that is difficult to access in the morning. It just so happens to be one of my major rut stands. So yes, I do access that stand in the mornings. I did kill my biggest buck in this stand though once on an evening hunt in the early season.
