I'll be out this evening then maybe not til after gun season. I may sneak in a gun hunt but odds are likely I probably won't seeing I haven't gun hunted in 15 years.

I was out this morning for a short sit, saw a spike and that was all. I did some scouting and found an awesome area in the new prop I’m hunting. Went in and hung my stand so I can sneak in Tom morning, looks like a great area. It’s above a swamp where multiple trail cross going into and out of a huge thicket. Got some pics of some decent bucks in the area, but I know there’s some real good ones around.

My grandson and I started a tradition we are going to call Deersgiving. First one was a success with me taking a nice big doe!!!!! 20181123_182414.jpg 20181123_165146.jpg

I’m back boys, my buddy Matt killed a nice mountain buck in WV.

Camp was a lot of fun, I’ll be making a short film of the experience.

Sitting in a new spot in the river bottom. Brought my middle son with me. We are in a makeshift blind on the ground. Pics are in the live from the stand thread.

Well I've decided to take gun season off and get back after a buck after that. Good luck to those out hunting now and next week.

Didn’t see anything but birds with my son tonight. Not even squirrels.

Well, I was going to take my oldest out for a sit this afternoon but the wind is gusting pretty strong. I doubt there would be any movement.

Maybe some of you guys could answer a question for me. I forgot I had about 25-30 pounds of deboned venison in my freezer. It was from the 16-17 season. You think it's still good? I thought about having it made into either bologna or summer sausage.

Depends on how it was wrapped. I’m guessing as long as there isn’t tons of freezer burn then it should be fine.

It should still be good if you wrapped in well. My freezer is still empty unfortunately, but my parents still have elk from 2014 that is good because of how well it was wrapped. Freezer burn will not make the meat unsafe, just tough in texture and to chew. If it is steak and roast cuts that are freezer burned, you could always unthaw and grind it. You won't notice after that. Then make sausages or jerky. Freezer burn is pretty much unflavored, cold jerky.
