Hopefully that weather gets em moving Shawn. I’m trying to find the motivation to even go tomorrow. I’m beginning to regret not running trail cams as much this year. I feel like I’m hunting a ghost. I see the same deer almost every sit. Don’t get me wrong, I love seeing deer and I am fortunate I do have deer to watch but it’s getting old. I think I may have to be more realistic about this property and lower my standards a bit. I hate to move if I’m seeing deer, I feel like if I’m seeing deer then eventually if a mature buck is there he will make a mistake and show himself. What do you guys think?
It is tough not knowing what is around. Most of the properties I hunt I can tell you just about every resident deer that lives there. However it is worth noting that the two nice bucks I took this year were both out of the same stand on the same property where I had zero cameras this year. I sat there twice, had those two walk by and I shot them. Now if I had cameras there and knew that there was a 170 giant roaming around, maybe I would have been inclined to pass the second buck I took, but in this case I had no idea what was there and was satisfied to fill my second buck tag with him. Food for thought
I pulled into the parking deck at work today and it started snowing as I walking into the building I work in. I can't call in sick today without a doctor's excuse because of a mandatory HR event.
Found out yesterday my #1 buck was shot this weekend just south of us. Looks like we’re going after #2 & 3 now, lol. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Better have some incredible shot placement on that one. I would hate to be around if a rifle hunter's shot was a little off.
So I am pumped for Illinois' shotgun season tomorrow. I am hanging up the muzzleloader and 870 and going with my handgun this year. I have never taken one with a handgun but figured a year when I can't shoot any more bucks is a good excuse to wait for a doe to get close and see what happens!
I may brave the weather tonight and get out. Leaving for WV on Saturday for 5 days of rifle hunting. That propane tank bunk was killed by a hunter, saw this pics of him dead somewhere. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Driving on 21 south of Navarre and just now witnessed a huge buck walking across a field. Good luck guys.
It’s actually cozy in this blind. The scenery is perfect for videotaping. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
This will be me next week and I cannot wait. Then I’m coming home for the weekend and following it up with a week in a deer camp tent at wolf creek state park in southern Ohio. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Got the split G2 buck on camera. Just put out some fresh corn. I'll be in this stand site tomorrow evening. This pic was around midnight today. Also had a lot of does still frequenting the site.
