The guys I work with got me in to it. There also the ones I'm elk hunting with this year were all taking it off. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
I had the archery tag the last time I did this hunt in 2015. I was able to get drawn on a bull moose at 67 yards facing dead away. I held at full draw for as long as I could but he never turned broadside. Looked back over his shoulder at me and walked off without presenting a good shot. I feel ya man. A couple years back I had a 180" buck about 25 yards out but couldn't get the shot I wanted so instead of taking a marginal shot I let him walk. Haven't seen that buck since. I'm guessing one of the neighbors got him, or maybe he's still out there.
Nothing I hate more is to wound a deer. I'm in it for the killing shot. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Yep, I've been there a couple times and it's not a very good feeling. I have a lot of people ask why I practice so much, they say I'm a really good shot. I tell them I can't practice enough.
Well going to the elk property to set the final stands and put out a another cam and clear shooting lanes. No food plots here just feed and mineral salt. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
This is the next thing I need to instill in my grandson. He can't understand why we have to keep practicing if we hit the bullseye just about every time. He thinks he's good to go.
It's all about the cold shot. The shot that matters. I can do up to a 60 cold. Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
The other thing he doesn't understand is the heat of the moment. Now of course that only comes with actually being there.
Right. Knowing how keep it together before, during and after the shot is taking. The patients...my kids are learning this too Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
Plus we all know it's so much more than just shooting a deer. Target shooting to actually shooting at a live target is like night and day.
So true. I tell myself to take a breath every time. Last year I dropped 2 doe inside 10 minutes of one another on the same spot. The second one was with a small 6 point. He left her at the feeder and he never heard her hit the ground. It was heart pounding... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
My 12 yr old son and my 9 yr old daughter want to hunt still working on it. They already want to dress out my deer for me... Sent from my iPad using Tapatalk
