Nice bucks and pics fellas. Been away on a much needed trip past few days. Been putting in a lot of OT at work and haven't had any time to do anything. Anyways went and changed cards and checked stuff again today. Got another couple nice new bucks this go around. Also getting a few smaller ones starting to lose velvet. Season cant get here soon enough. 4 more days and hopefully Ill be pearched in a tree in Kentucky.
You guys are killing me with these early starts to the season. I've got another 10 days before I can hit the woods. Most excitement I'll get till then is getting my shoulder mount back sometime this week!
Well got some awesome news tonite. Got to work and found out I get to work all weekend. Yippy. Guess no Kentucky opener for me.
Got out after work today and checked on my throw and grow plot since we finally got some rain. Jumped up a bit starting to look good.
That bites but what do you do. Pretty soon I will be working all the time so making the most of it while I can. Gonna hit it hard again this weekend. Tim
Pulled my cards today and this is the most consistent buck I have on cam! I have a pile of does around but a lot of the other bucks I had around have disappeared. The Misfit!
No go Saturday morning. It was just too calm and we would have done more damage trying to get into an area to hunt. Saturday afternoon we made it out. Did a little scouting on the way in. I had a plan before going in on where we were going to sit. I should have stuck to that plan !! While we were slinking around since I veered off course to scout a little... we came into that area a little different. There was buck ( 2 year old ) milling around. I told Britney were there is one buck this time of year... there probably are more since they are still in there bachelor groups. We snuck within 70 yards of him and I got Britney setup up. The buck bedded down in a clover patch We were about 100 yards or so from were I had originally planned to setup. I setup about 70 yards from Britney in another spot I like from scouting on the way in. Britney said I hadn't been gone 10 minutes when a bigger buck got out of the clover patch and walked out towards her. At 30 yards... the buck is moving in the right direction... then little buck got up out of the clover patch. The bigger buck stops and looks at him and then turns around and heads back to him. They both take off and walk right by the spot I was originally going set us up in. I can't see any of this as I have a little knoll blocking my view. I don't see a thing and finally at last light walked back to Britney. Some day I will learn to stick with the plan !!!!!!!!!!!! This morning, I flipping did it again. Britney wanted to sleep in so I decided to go in after Trash. I knew it was going to be wet and nasty getting in there with the heavy dew. On the way in and almost to the spot... I decided to change the plan and setup in a spot with a little better view. It was a good spot for a view alright!!! I got to watch Trash mill around in the spot I was originally planning to hunt about 150 yards away. The plan for tonight with the wind they are predicting... is to setup both of us up about 60 yards from that spot. It is as close as I dare get. Hopefully he heads north and not south. He still is in velvet. So with all this said... I will stick to the plan !!! I will stick to the plan !!!!! Tim
It's tough when you second guess yourself I did that a couple times during turkey season this year but it eventually worked out! Keep at it and good luck!!
Stuck to the plan this afternoon. He showed but went just wide of us by about 40 yards. Nice to see him still moving during daylight though. Tim
Those veggies are looking good! I'm preparing for the opener this weekend here in WI. Weather is gonna feel like mid October. Highs in the low 50s, Lows in the lower 30s. Can't wait. I usually putz around on public land for the first month or so,not to disturb my serious spots. I like the mystery of it. You never know what your going to experience
Hi everyone. Sorry I haven't been around, I've been working a lot. I've also been trying to get together with my friend that says he has a 12 pointer running around on his land. I've been trying to get a camera out there but he doesn't answer my calls. I don't think he's avoiding me. He has his hands full with his elderly mother. I probably should stop by and make sure everyone is ok.
Took a ride after work this afternoon and checked on my throw and grow plot!! We have had a good amount of rain and it is coming along pretty good!
I just got permission to hunt 10 acres that buts up to state game land about ten minutes from my house. The land owner says he has had two really nice bucks around. 1 is an 8 pointer and the other is at least a 10 maybe a 12 pointer!! Going to try and get out there this weekend and do some scouting!!
