For bow hunting in Illinois we are able to take as many does as we would like to buy tags for and then collectively among all the different types of hunting we are able to shoot two bucks. If you shoot two bucks bow hunting and you happen to have an either sex shotgun tag it automatically becomes a doe only tag.

Greatwhite you'll be due to shoot a 150 plus buck then since you're only able to take one :)

Man! I sure hope I can get us more than 50 points but we will see. Hoping to make it to Wisconsin in November if we are done with harvest in time.

It's 1 buck here in Wisconsin for bow season, so you have to make it count! Fortunately I have been able to the last few years. Season starts here in 3 weeks. Woohoo

Our season in Indiana starts Oct. 1st. We are only allowed 1 buck no matter which weapon we use. With the does its kinda funny but I can pretty well kill all I want since I have lifetime license as long as I travel county to county.
In Kentucky which I plan on hitting hard at first opens Sept 6th. They only allow 1 buck and 3 doe I believe.

On the plus side is we can party hunt though, so if you've got more luck than who you hunt with and they're good about it you can legally have them tag some too to get your second deer or however many you hunt with. Not a bad part of having people to hunt with that want meat more than making the kill themself

This is true. And since it's a legal way to take/tag a deer, there should be no problem counting that for the contest right?

I have been broad head tuning this afternoon and am pretty happy with the way they are flying!

Not too shabby if those were the circles you were actually aiming at :)

I don't see why not. I assume so and plan on it if it works out this season. I'm sure there'll be issues from people in areas that can't, but that's the norm for anything different.

I think it is and should be too, just seems like another one of those things that ends up in arguments between the ones that can and do vs the ones that can't or don't, like hunting public land vs private, plots, minerals, baiting legally, etc...

Exactly. There are always going to be people that have an " opinion" on certain topics. Deer hunting is about being ethical and creating memories. That's pretty much it.

If it's legal what's the problem? If you harvest the animal and someone else legally can tag it where is the argument?

Exactly. Fitz is a MN guy too, I'll see what he says. My dad and I hunt together but only a couple times at best a year due to harvest. We talked about it this summer and he has no objection of me taking a doe with his tag if we're hunting together.

I have to double check to make sure party hunting with archery is legal again this year; it was last.

I agree, I just foresee potential for conflict. Maybe some dont have a party to hunt with and don't hunt outta state so would be upset cause they'd feel cheated, some just take the anti-party hunt side for personal preference or opposition to it, I think a lot of states don't allow it so might be called unfair by them. It just seems 99% of the fights on the forum are things like that where it's different circumstances turn hunters into antihunters attacking each other.

    1. All deer entered into this contest must be harvested legally within the laws and regulations of the state or province in which it was harvested. This contest is only for fun so please, don't break the law.

By what rule #1 says I think you will be fine!!
