Filling in for whomever didn't show, just got notified by Cody (Rockinchair) that I have been placed on this team.
Don't have any good looking bucks on cam yet, but there are 4 or 5 I see almost nightly cutting across in front of the house.
Do you all hunt: 1. Your own property; 2. Private property; or 3. Public property? I hunt 51 acres of my own and 1010 acres of privately owned land in the neighborhood.
Private prolly around 400 acre plus guest hunts Public between 3 different tracts prolly 19,000 acres of bowhunting only land
I hunt a 200 or so acre farm about 5 miles from my house and there is about 8000+ acres of public land within 15 miles of me. This year i also got an invitation to hunt another small farm that one of my co-workers owns.
Welcome aboard Iowa Vet. I have access to about 1000 acres of private land in Minnesota, some 40's and 60's with my buddies farm that's around 800. In Wisconsin my family owns a 50 surrounded by a couple hundred thousand acres of state forest. Side note: I want to get some more feedback on the avatar from the rest of you guys, it's on page 4.
I hunt a couple hundred acres on private and I check out some public spots a couple times a year. Mostly to try to find a gun hunting spot.
I hunt in north central Illinois at a few different bodies of timber on family owned private property most of the time. I do have a a couple other spots I can hunt with a friend that is also private. I do not hunt any public land. I just started deer hunting last year all bow. I always did other types of hunting and always wanted to get a bow and try deer hunting for the last few years and finally got started last season. It only took 1 season for me to get hooked and fall in love with the sport. I was fortunate enough to harvest 3 deer (an avg. 6 point and 2 doe) off my property my first seson while having a great learning experience and scouting my property (and of course lots of tasty meat). I got my cameras and fixed stands in place over the summer and can't wait for another exciting season. Have several nice bucks on camera which include 1 giant and a few other would be nice shooters if I was not going to try and wait for the big guy (but that is easier said then done when another really nice buck walks under your stand). I call him big 9 and attached a recent photo of him as I have gotten to watch him grow in photos over the last couple months. Just need him to come around in a few more weeks. Hopefully, I can put him or one of his nice buddies he is hanging out with on the ground this season with a little help from above and score some points for the team. Does anyone have any estimates to what this buck would score or how old he is? Thanks! I look forward to sharing all our exciting experiences throughout the season and good luck to all of you!
Thanks for that...much better. How did you do that? Did you use a special program? I was playing around with it for awhile without luck of making it easier to see and even made a new file of a zoomed in version but the attachment management said it was beyond size limits. There is a lot of cover in the woods at that spot and it is first thing in the morning so the light is not the best on the picture and it was just light enough to stop taking IR photos.
do you have anymore ideas , not that isnt cool , i'm leaving it up to you guys really to come up with what you want , i mean after all it is a team effort .........lol
Welcome to the team Iowa , looks like we have a good solid team now , and it seams we have a team that everyone actually hunts instead of running there lips .......lol. I hunt my neighbors farm there is 2,200 acres on one side of the road and 1,800 acres on the other , alot for me to try and cover , there is big deer there and alot of them , but being in the right stand at the right time is my biggest defeat.
Cant really read the avatar , looks good as a banner though , Eric ya may just have to play around with the colors and outlines to bring it out that small .
