Archbunk is pretty active on the fourm, you have any interest in captain? Come in man you know you want to! Haha Sent from my SM-G900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
What all is involved? 1st year in the contest, so not sure what all is required. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Sorry I've been absent guys. Been pretty busy planting food plots all day and spotlight counts at night. We have definitely been seeing some good deer for around here. Several in the 120-140 range, and even a couple up near 150s which is huge as most of the mature deer on the areas I tend to hunt average in the 120-130s. I killed 3 bucks last year (got lucky with drawing a controlled hunt) and they were 3.5, 4.5, and 7.5, and ranged from 122-132 6/8. Also seeing more does and dawns than normal so I should hopefully be good for 50 pts. I'm shooting the same elite hunter that I've been shooting for several years, as well as sticking with the MBG ascent, and gold tip arrows. I've shot killzone some the last couple years but really prefer a fixed blade so I'm going back with magnus buzzcut and I'm going to try the black hornet ser razor this year. Not much. Just check over all the deer entries for mistakes and contact the guys to get it fixed. Also if a problem in contest, you would be the voice for the team. That rarely happens. It's easy and we would all be here for any questions. Good way to get your feet wet. Of course if we lose this year, it's all becomes all your fault! Haha jk Sent from my SM-G900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Also, remind the team that they need two photos of them, their bow and their deer for the entry to count. Just read over and familiarize yourself to all of the contest rules. The captain needs to he someone who has the availability to check the forums almost every day.
I can chk the forum daily as I normally do anyway so that would not be a problem. I have never scored antlers before so if that is a down side then I would find someone else. If it’s something that I can get help from you guys on then I’m willing to give it a try. I assume that’s what you mean by checking entries is to make sure there were no mistakes when scoring the antlers. Does the captain post the scores to the official score card? Or is that done by the person who makes the kill, posts pics etc? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
No you only have to worry about your deer. Each individual hunter takes care of posting score of there deer and scoring. You would just check over there post and make sure it has all the info needed to count. Each person has to have 2 different pics of them with deer, bow, and hunter. Also in post must include time and date. If it's a buck must include a score sheet that has all the measurements on the rack. Also a reminder to the team to read the rules if your first year. You would not believe how many people mess it up every year, it happen alot! Archbunk, you don't have to be captain. Buckeye was just offering it out to the team if anyone wanted to try it for there first time. I just noticed you post alot, so I was just throwing your name out. The person who kills the deer scores their own deer and enters it in the scorecard. You would just be there if they enter it and forgot to post something they were suppose to like time, date, etc. You got this. My vote goes to you as captain haha. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
With all this global warming stuff that is supposed to be happening, how much cold front killing are you guys expecting to do?
This cooler weather here in Missouri is starting to give me the itch! Summer creeps back into the 90's by this weekend unfortunately.
I’m willing to be captain if nobody else wants to do it. I only ask that if I’m missing something that someone would please pm me so I know. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It was in the 50’s this morning here. It had me wanting to be up in a tree Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Well I got out shooting tonight at 5o yards with my broadheads and had a great shoot! I took some of buckeyes suggestions on Tuning and got my bow shooting alot better. It wasn't a problem to shoot a 3" group at 50. I still have a slight cam lean on 1 cam, but it's way better and I can live with it. I also got a shipping confirm on my new broadheads, can't wait to try them out! Anyone else out shooting? It's almost time! Sent from my SM-G900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I’m a little behind schedule this year as usual. Just got my bow out last weekend to start practicing. Luckily it was like riding a bike and my groups were looking pretty good out to 30. Probably practice some at 40 this weekend, although I like to keep my shots between 20-30 yds when hunting deer Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I'm shooting slick trick vipers right now. But I'm go out west in a few weeks and I ordered some Iron will broadheads to try out. A little pricey but they are getting great reviews Sent from my SM-G900V using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Sounds like archbunk is our new captain, congrats archbunk. Do we have any artist on the team that could make us a good team avatar? I am still using mine from my team last year and that has to go. Down here in FL I sure would like to see a Cold Front. I am going to be planting soy beans and iron clay peas this weekend. I leave for Colorado on 8/31 for a week of hunting elk and mule deer and my FL archery season starts 9/15. Not much longer to wait, I hope to have some team points put up soon.
Oh man 50s sound so good. It's been down in the 60s some here, but with crazy humidity. I've been shooting a little. Shot some broadheads yesterday out to 50 and they shot with field points as much as I can do I'm happy with that. Now just have to start working on scooting back. I have never shot a deer past 35, but I enjoy practicing out to 98. That's as far as I can go without fletches hitting sight housing. Sent from my SM-G930V using Tapatalk
