Just got back from putting up trail cameras and making sure the ground blind is all set for this coming weekends youth hunt. I’ll be taking my 11 y/o son. He will be using his rifle. Our bow season starts October 1st. Can’t wait!!!

Good luck to those of you that are out! Hot is the name of the game for early season here. I expect 90s om opening day. Sure hard to get out when it's like that.

I've finished my spotlight counts, still planting food plots, and trying to get in shape. I've dropped around 18# in the last couple months, and will be going into season in the best shape I've been in in probably 10-15 years

Sounds like you’re getting everything together and congrats on the weight loss. It’s supposed to be in the upper 60’s as the high this weekend. Hoping it sticks around or maybe even lower for our opener.

Did not see any deer activity yesterday afternoon but did end up missing a coyote. Tried shooting through some thin brush behind me and on my right side, awkward position. Shot just under him. I would have never attempted that shot on a deer but we had pictures last year of a coyote with a fawn hind quarters in his mouth. Any coyotes I see I am going to at least attempt a shot.

No doubt yotes get some fawns. But down where your at I bet it's the big snakes lol!

Just a heads up, but killing coyotes, unless you are removing 70% of the population, can actually do the opposite of what you want. They have adaptive breeding that allows them to have larger litters when animals start getting removed. I don't pass a shot at a yote either though lol. Maybe one day I'll actually manage to kill one with my bow

I think we are going to go with this as the official team logo. Although I like the hand drawn one, I can’t get past the fact that it’s hand drawn, Texas tip is facing the wrong way and you get see the wording in the
Opposite side of the page. Lol. I guess I should have used a fresh piece of paper. Everyone good with this?

I think those are the things that make it the best!!! Haha

I’m heading down to a part of the state I’ve never hunted before on Thursday. All I have to go on right now is what I’ve seen on onX. Plan is to just drive around and check out the spots I have marked when I arrive Thursday. Going to hunt Friday and Saturday evenings and scout in the mornings. Coming from the big woods it will be fun hunting in an area with some ag around.

Can’t wait for the first sit!

Cleaning up my last few local stands tomorrow and then heading down south on Wednesday to my buddies property that I’ve never been to and helping him out with some stands and cameras before the season opens on the 29th, hopefully can get a couple sits in down there with him this year. Also have a really good friend who has had 2 strokes by the age of 21 and he can only use the right side of his body, he’s asking me to take him out this year since he just got a brand new track chair and is capable of going into the woods. Thing is seriously a tank lol but I’m going to let him use my crossbow and I’ll throw a pop up blind for him and hopefully get him a doe in the early season since it will be hard for him to sit once the weather gets colder. He’s never hunted before so I might dedicate the early season towards getting him his first deer and man would that be a great memory!
