Bobcat031 here! I'm in Michigan. CWD is having its way with us the last several years. How ever I have a couple our trail cams that give me hope. Also have pics of coyotes too.
Welcome Bobcat, nice pics. Need to run up and check my trailcams this week, haven't pulled cards yet and my cell cam isn't working. Really need to buy a spartan. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
I made it official. Team name is "Size is Overrated." We will need to get a avatar made up by someone.
I contacted Brad so our team name in our thread title should be getting changed soon. In deer related news. I will be checking a few of my cams Thursday afternoon. Will be the last time I go to the property until season starts!
That's pretty cool didn't expect to have someone close by on the team with me....hope we make it count this year probably won't have a herd left after this year is over with the new regulations.
Yeah! I hear ya. We hunt outside the core area. Haven't had any issues yet. I may not be too picky this year. We have quite a few smaller bucks on the trail and too. I will be watching for the 10pt and the 8pt. My #1 goal is venison in the freezer this season! Sent from my SM-G930U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Yup same here, probably going to try and fill both those non restricted combo tags and a doe tag at the very least...I am about 3 miles from where they found it at that ranch in mecosta county, so who knows what's gonna happen next year.
I think if the DNR has its easy they would kill everything and start over. If they truly wanted to know how bad it was, they would have a mandatory check station for all deer taken. Just my 2 cents Sent from my SM-G930U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
Venison is my goal too. I’m on a bow hunting kill drought. Been several years because I’ve passed too many times and my time in the woods has been cut short. I’m hoping I can hold out for a buck until I make it to Missouri in November but if anything decent walks by here in MD I’m letting one fly. Sent from my iPhone using Bowhunting.com Forums
I hear you. Filling my freezer is number goal. Because last few years have been rough. Sent from my SM-G930U using Bowhunting.com Forums mobile app
I haven't released an arrow in 4 years. This year I'm actually able to take a doe and a buck (last 5 years or so have been 1 deer only, choice of buck or doe through all seasons).
Last year was rough for me. Put the most hours in a stand I have ever done, and didn't kill a deer. Passed on a small 8 many times, and was alluded by a 170s - 180s buck I saw 4 times, never got a shot oh him. I know he made it through the winter though, hoping I finally have a pic of him. We'll see. There was a nice 8 running around last year I should have taken when I got a shot but didnt. Missed a dose towards the end of the season, cant get doe tags in that county. Hoping to spend some time down in our southern Iowa farm also, which we have harvested some nice deer over the years. Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
So I sent the Admin our team name and asked if he could change it yesterday morning. Just waiting for them to change it. Unless there is something else I need to do but I didn’t see anything in the rules on how to get it changed. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
I leave for Colorado in 16 days! I'm so excited and cant wait to get out there. Going to put in a ton of miles and hopefully release an arrow! Sent from my SM-G955U using Tapatalk
Just posted this in the live from the stand thread. First night I’ve glassed our field this year. Great news. Live from the field here in MN. Just laid eyes on the biggest buck I have on cam. Sitting in our corn field with the spotting scope. Bachelor group hitting one of about 5 oak trees on our property on the edge of our beans. Moving one of my cameras 100 yards on Friday to hopefully get some pics of him. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Last year was tough for me too, def didn't see any shortage of deer, but saw a shortage in good deer! I don't think I saw one buck all season long that was older than 2.5-3.5 years old. Had one that had some good mass to him and def with some potential for his young age, but hope he made it! I hunt public land so there is always the chance of someone tagging him, also this particular spot is in between two farms and these deer tend to cross the roads a lot to get to the corn on each side of the property.
