Team 24 - Size is Overrated

Headed out in the morning after I get outta work gonna try a mid morning hunt 9-12. They seem to be chasing pretty hard any my area, Halloween day, supposed to rain all night tonight until morning, and barometer will be rising and going to my rut stand that I haven't stepped foot in since September.... hopefully a deadly combo.

I can NOT buy a favorable wind for this one particular spot I want to get into for the life of me! It is KILLING ME and is extremely frustrating!!!!! All I am asking for is a South East, dead East or a dead South wind PLEASSSEEEEEE!!!! I just checked again and no good for this weekend, but late Sunday night it changes to a East wind for most of Monday and turns into a South East wind late afternoon into the evening. I am strongly considering calling in sick to work on Monday, but I am just so busy right now I don't know what to do. Struggle is real fellas!

 

Back in stand, havent been out in awhile, great day to be out but a little warm.. I'll be out tomorrow and Saturday as well. Goodluck guys

I'd be calling in sick

I'm going back to the swamp tonight. A little warm but basically 0 wind. Corn is being chopped/is chopped so it should have them in the woods/swamp a bit more. I saw 4 does in the spot 2 days ago and 0 bucks. Just a matter of time before the bucks show up looking for these does bedded in the swamp.

 

I'm back in the stand this afternoon. Seen on nice buck this morning. Never came in close. It breezy out but I rather be out then at home. The wind is blowing across our woods into a uncut corn field.. I hung a drag soaked with doe in heat. Figured it might draw something out of the corn.

Thanks. I built the pedestal out of barn wood that cane off the barn we tore down on the property and the fence post he is hanging on also came from there.

Got out yesterday and just had one spike come by. It’s still a little early here I think. Bigger ones haven’t started moving or are staying nocturnal. There’s been an increase in doe and small buck roadkill though so the time is soon.

Went out this evening, passed 2 doe and saw 3 different buck 2 were shooters but not close enough. Hoping to go out tomorrow for the first morning sit of the year in Pennsylvania. Supposed to be windy and rainy... blahh

 

I may regret it but a passed on a 145" 8 point this afternoon at 25 yards. He was really nice but I couldnt shoot him. Only because I watched him get run off by a legitimate Booner 100 yards away. The hot doe would t come my way.

At my brothers for the weekend for rifle opener. Will have the .270 in hand in our yearly tradition.
