Great bucks sconley. Id kill just about any of them if I had the opportunity. Does the big droptine buck have some kind of injury that may have caused the abnormal growth? He looks kind of scrawny.

As for my setup, I just did my 10 year bow upgrade this year.

I was thinking the same thing but he mentioned seeing the buck previous year. Still same defect. You think it would impact the antler growth that long?

Not real sure if he has an injury or not. These were the first pictures I have of him but the smaller one I had seen all year. My guess is just bad genes since there are 2 with messed up racks. Hopefully I get a good look at him in the morning. Then all I will need to do is decide if I should go ahead and remove him from the herd or let him walk. Hitting the bed guys, I'll post an update tomorrow on my opening day.

I would take the drop tine buck just for the fact of character, big racks are great and all, but that is one hell of a drop tine.

A quick update on opening morning. Full moon and 77degrees with 82% humidity at 5:30am...didn't have a single deer move through all morning. Not going to be able to hunt again till tomorrow evening so wishing for some better luck.

I won't be able to hunt until October due to the fact that highshool football is a full time occupation lol

He hasn't been online since the 22nd? He has been a member for a while, so maybe he just doesn't get on much.

and if you look at his past posts, most of them came from last year during the competition. Maybe he just isnt on the site as much as we are. I say give him a week or so more.

Posting from the blind; hopefully this evening will be full of action. We have storms rolling in so hopefully the deer will be moving early evening. Check back with you all later.

Sorry fellas for not checking in sooner. I don't usually get on much till this contest comes around. Also, thanks for hanging on and giving me a little time to get with the program. Anyhow, I'm ready to go and again this season I have several good bucks on my property and I'm optimistic I'll get a chance. Lately I've been tending to my food plots and feeders and running my cameras. Looks like we've got a good team. I'll be on more often now but if you need me just message me and I'll get back asap. Again, thanks for waiting for me.

You da man Oklabowyer. Welcome aboard. This is my first year.

Hal Hal the gangs all here. Good to have you on board Oklabowyer. Almost late to the game but sounds like you are going to be one of our stronger members. What points did you put up last year.

Let the games begin. I’m pumped but I guess we all are. I really appreciate the opportunity to participate in the contest. It adds an extra punch to the hunt.

Anyone doing anything today? I know only a few of your seasons have started but anyone else getting prepared? This is my favorite time to scout. Out here feeding patterns are changing and bucks are starting to drift into the fall hideaways. I have a honey hole I just found about a month ago. Found a block of public land slivered in between two big posted blocks.enormous thick swamp surrounded by oaks and thick pines. Gonna go hang a few stands in there today.

Checked one cam this afternoon since I can drive right to it (don't want to scent my other cams/areas up right now), and after a long summer of little buck activity, I've got a target:

I organized my back pack and camo yesterday ;)

Actually next Saturday I am hoping to get out and set up another ladder stand, cut some lanes and re-cut some trails, check the camera etc. I know it's kind of late for that, but such is life. It is still so hot and humid here, that I think about hunting 24/7, but don't actually want to get out and do it yet. I prefer much cooler temps, when hunting. We have four months and I'll get to go pretty much as often I want, so I'm not worried about that. Fortunately where I hunt, you can go out in the woods, cut fire wood, make a bunch of racket and then literally find deer poop in the same spot the very next day. I'd rather not do that, but I guess I'm lucky in that regard.
