i'm a public land meat hunter and I normally go by if its brown its down. But this year I know there is a nice 8pt in the area so Ill hold out on a buck until rut and try for him. But if i dont get him by the end of rut I reverting back to my previous statement.

I'm holding out as well after what I've seen. I don't know if I even wanna go back in this spot until I'm ready to climb the tree.

I 100% agree and will do so when the time comes. More than anything just looking for different opinions and others that may be better at field judging size. I will post some pics in the morning, getting real excited fo Saturday morning.

Well since i'm a night owl and my wife is in bed and i'm still up and bored figured I would maybe start this off. What gear is everyone using this year and what new additions did you add since last year.

    Bear Strike
Nap Apache Drop away rest-added this year
    Trophy Ridge 5 pin sight
Easton Axis nano arrows wrapped and 2 inch blazers-orange and white to represent the Tenn. Vols.-also new this year
    Tru fire Hurrican Release
    NAP Thunderhead Edge broadheads
Summit Goliath Climber-bought the extendable footrest for it this year also.
Bushnell Bowhunter Chuck Adams Edition Range Finder-new this year
Also in the process of buying new Under Armour Scent Control Gear. Will be ordering the Rut scent control jacket and pants soon.

I think that is everything other then just the odds and ends of knives, scent spray, and calls. I guess I will be trying out the Knight and Hale Deathchamber grunt call this year also.

These are a few of my choices for tomorrow morning, two different farms so I have to decide tonight where I am hunting. I have 1 more picture to post but it's on a diferent computer so I will post it later.

This is the one I am really undecided on. I know he isnt going to score great but I might take him for 2 reasons, huge drop tine and as you will see in the picture he is passing down his bad genes. What do you think?

Appreciate it. I will probably be hunting the property where I have the 8, 9, and that drop tine buck. I hunt out of a blind there and weather is calling for 50% rain so I will be able to stay dry.

Good luck Sconley! That first picture of the droptine looks like his little brother is in the background. Shoot, you get a chance to take a buck still in velvet? Awesome!

Yea I watched the smaller one grow all summer but the big one just showed up last week. Yea thats what I love about KY. We have about a week to get one in full velvet. Took one in 07 opening day full velvet, grossed 140. Talking about a dream, that was my first ever buck taken with a bow!

Don't really have any other drop aways to compare it to, its the only one ive used. But it works great for me, had no problems with it. It is quiet and makes no sound, easy to tune and set up.

    Okay, serioulsy though:

    Diamond Black Ice (65#)
    Tru Glo 5 pin
    Ultra Rest Hunter drop
    G5 tubeless peep
    Bone Collector Apex Quiver
    Cabelas Stalker Extreme 65/80 arrows
    G5 Striker 100gr broadheads
    Tru Fire wrist release

A hosh posh of clothing (mostly in Real Tree Hardwoods) and other misc gear that would be too long and boring to list. Several ladder stands, minerals and right now only one camera going (DLC Covert CA4.0).

    Nothing fancy...
