Well I'm doing my final check of all my gear today. Went out and tested my bow, got her tuned out to 30 yds really really spot on with my broad heads. I took all my other pins out, I do that just to keep my self from doing something stupid and trying a shot I shouldn't, 30 is my max at an animal. Season opens Monday, but I have to work that afternoon, I may sneak in for a couple hours that morning and come back home and take a nap before work. But I do have Wed, Thur, Fri off. So I get 3 good days in at least. Then 2 days a week until the first week of Nov. when I get the 4th-12th off. I'll post some from the stand if I can get good enough reception. I'm thinking bout taking the video camera with me and filming my recoveries for now, not really set up for filming the hunts yet, but a buddy of mine is and he may do some filming for me, or me for him.
Saw 10 this am, and passed on 50 pts for us. She was very edgy and wouldn't give me a chance to draw back. Should be plenty more chances.
hunted 4 times this weekend, no luck but I will try to get out some more this week. Good luck to all you guys this week.
Key is to hunt smart. After tomorrow, the next good hunting day will be 10/14 with a peak time from 4:00 to 5:00 PM
Well all my gear is packed. Arrows are set up and bow is tuned. Will be heading out for a few hours in the morning before work. Then will be out wed, thur, fri for morning and afternoon hunts. I'm not taking the climber the first few days, just gonna ground pound it, I have a good spot picked out with a good bit of natural cover. Gonna try and get a little video of me hopefully smacking a doe.
I was supposed to go and pick up my new truck in the morning, but the owner of the dealership called and said they are going to deliver it to me, so I will be up in the oak grove in the morning.
I plan on being out at sunrise and sitting till 9 but now you throw this out so I guess I'll set until 930
If it happens out that way, guess we were right in picking you has captain cause it would be because of you that I stayed. Good luck and be safe to all heading out tomorrow. Whack em and stack em boys.
Had shots at two small bucks that I would have been embarassed to harvest. The 2nd one came by at 8:55 AM.
Seen 4 doe bedded in the ditch by where I park when I first got there. Seen a big *** raccoon around 730, then a coyote about 45 yds upwind of me at about 745, and a ton of grey squirrels. I called it a day at 922 and headed home, getting ready for a nap now before work. Will head back out wed. morning.
