I as well like my bow, so much so I'll go over the top and say I like it better than all the Bowtech bows I've owned. It's down right flawless in my mind and I've yet to see a camo Pattern to equal the Snow Camo. Of course we all have different opinions. Mine's the 1 that counts though, because I'm the guy behind it ,HAHAHA. Got my last Raxx site in tonight and man the sign around my stand is rediculess! I like it though, the Moose & deer have worn in a trail path 15 yards in front of my stand a 1 foot deep. That's it, I'm all caught up and ready for the season to start, feels like I've worked my butt off, I'm actually ready for my hunter next year also to come up. Gotta like that, now to put some meat on the ground.

Boof, sorry to hear hope u get well soon!

Season starts oct 1st for me, which lands on a Tuesday . Works out great, since I`ve got Tuesdays and Wednesdays off until mid October . I`m gonna go out and check a camera today, hopefully its still there. I think I`ll take it down and set it up behind my house. I`ve got a spot about 60 or 70 yards behind the house that the deer cross all the time. Curious to see whats crossing it

Got two trailcams up yesterday. Checked a stand and put a safety rope up for climbing. Found a new spot for my second stand. Good cover for the trees I have to choose from. Shouldn't get skylined which I had a problem with last year a few times. Most trees are leaning pretty bad.

Took picture of 2 acre food plot we have. Clover mostly with some chicory. We planted 3 years ago. The grass is getting bad, but clover is still everywhere. Trying to figure out if we can spray it next year to kill the foxtail. You can see my dad's box blind he put up years ago. The varmints have chewed a few bigger holes in it. I'm going to work on that this weekend as long as the heat goes down.

Was going to hang my other tree stand, but it was way too hot.

I picked up a new farm. I won't be able to get out there until Sunday to take a look. Going to try to sneakdown the power line easement on the north side and do some glassing pending what crops are in the fields. Orange icons where I will be setup to glass. Probably take me a few nights to see what's going on. I am a little hesitant being it is this close to the season. I may just sneak out mid day and drop some cell game cameras in a couple spots. I can always wait to hunt it later in the season if I have too. Best part about this farm is it hasn't been hunted in a really long time!

Looks great Heckler! Can't beat having more ground! What I would do is hang a couple cameras and stands at the same time and let it sit for a month. In my opinion it will be no different then guys checking cameras now and hunting middle of September. Any water in the area?

Looks like a nice farm. Sounds like you got the right idea. Glass and put up cameras.

I am kind of excited about that property. Specifically since it borders the river on the east side. That should be an awesome spot come rut. Specifically since there is a road that runs north along the the river should push the deer to my side! :P

    Yeah Baby
My quest is done after four years of knocking on doors and no one was home ever. Guy answered his phone and said yes to me hunting his 45 acres which boarders mine from the north. I've seen High Tower & Tank both come from that direction and lots of does. The good thing is I don't need to get permission to open the front gate to get in, I'll just hop the fence coming in from my property and noone will even know I'm there. Awesome. Question is do I put a stand where I see the deer come from all the time & hunt asap or do I leave it as a rutt stand?

Hard to say without knowing what the ground looks like.

I tell you... I went through a spell when I moved away from my home town where I didn't hunt at all. I was and still do spend more time looking for ground to hunt then I do hunting. These outfitters have completely ruined it for the local guys. It really pisses me off to no end. There is no regulation through Wildlife and Parks and there needs to be! Along with a hefty cost to do it.

Congrats Heckler and youngfart on the new ground!

Since I still live near my hometown, getting ground to hunt isn't that difficult. It makes me fearful to get too far away from South Dakota, though. Last year I tried to get some hunting ground closer to where I go to college and got one yes out of 12 landowners. It was rough. Now I realize every little acre is meaningful that I have to myself.

I about fell out of my chair. 1 in 12 would be awesome! How about 1 in 50? And I would like to think I have increased my odds over the last couple years as I have been bringing my boys along with me to knock on doors.

I don't think there is a right or wrong answer to that question. Do you know the land very well being it's bordering yours?

I've yet to have to ask for permission for bow hunting. We have 5 different farms in the family that I am the only hunter. I do however feel your guys' pain when it comes to goose hunting. Landowners know me well enough now I hardly get shot down but it still happens from time to time.

Congrats on the new ground guys.
Heckler i feel your pain on that, Michigan is very hard to find ground to hunt. After the 2011 season I lost a farm that i use to hunt and over that summer me and my buddy spent days and days just driving around knocking on farmers doors and got the same answer every time that its already leased out or they hunt it. It came down to the point where i had nothing to loose and put a add on craigslist. Thats how i got my lease I have now and some how lucked out to get a great deal in the cost area and this being my second year we have been on good bucks both years

The 5 properties that border the chicken farm I hunt on has 5 different land owners that own 35 acre parcels that keep getting further north away from my property. I'd say most is bedding area. I've seen on more than 5 occasions High Tower , Full Curl and Tank come from that direction from under a huge bush that sort of has a dip under it in the ground. The bucks love rubbing their foreheads and antlers in it. As soon as they see the fence and the monster tree I'm in they skirt it and walk 30 yards down the road and hop the fence there. The travel route is 8 inches deep going bye the base of the tree I'm in and I'm up 25ft. They haven't spotted me but they always seem leary. The does come across with no problem, but not the bucks. If I could get over there and set up before the rutt ,I could catch them walking out to the feeding grounds which is still 250 yards from there. Stay out of their till the Rutt. Period, I guess that's why I call some of my stands for the rutt!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
