4 hours might be long to sit in that? I always feel like this time of year they usually come out late. As cold as it is they might be out earlier?

I'm planning on sitting for 3 hours and that is probably plenty. I also know my area pretty well and patterns.

Never hurts to go out and if you have to leave early oh well. If you don't go out you'll wonder what you missed.

Just talked to my dad and he drive around the farm looking at tracks. Looks like I'm climbing a tree and no heated treehouse for me. Time to bundle up and get prepared.

Good luck to anyone freezing out there.

Good luck. I am on my way. I have to get there early to get my blind setup and brushes in. Wind is in my favor!

Well moved the stand today closer to where I was getting pictures of the 8pt. He's showed up the last three days last night was half hour after dark. 10 to 5 I spotted him coming out of the swamp. The last three days he has worked along the edge of the swamp today he decided to just head straight out through the woods. Getting closer but the days are running short. Temps are dropping tonight into tomorrow. With the cold front moving in that would be a key ticket to maybe get the split brow 10 up a little earlier. Need your guys help do I try for him tomorrow and hope that he moves during day light or keep going after the 8? Wednesday is the last day of the season.

I survived... That's about all I have to say though. Didn't see a signal deer and busted my blind packing up. I think I may just soak this Nebraska tag and eat it now. Not feeling it and it sure isn't looking good.

Coheley.....Seems like you have the 8 patterned and have the best bet getting him to me. Do whatever you feel like doing though. You have a better idea than any of us.

I sat for one hour. Hardly any tracks in snow and no fresh tracks. It snowed last Sunday. Not a good sign. We have a neighbor that isn't too far away that has a corn field that is unpicked. I'm thinking the deer are all over there. I might try using muzzleloader over that way on a bordering property.

My eyelashes were iced over after an hour. Not worth being out in that crap. Knew that going into it, but thought it might be worth it. Snow really talks on deer activity though.

Yeah I think in gonna stick after the 8 feel like I have a better chance with him and don't wanna waste a day if the 11 don't show. Trying to convince my dad to go sit the other spot but with this cold he's not sure if he will be able to handle it.
When does your season end scarps? You have another buck tag right?

Season ends January 10th I believe. Need to double check. Late muzzleloader tag. Last year our food plot looked like hogs were digging through it. It kind of got taken over by fox tail. Not sure if that is the reason they aren't hitting it or because of the standing corn. Clover is still there under the fox tail. This spring it will be worked up and re-seeded.

Might be throwing in the towel if the weather stays this cold. The rest of this week doesn't look good, but I'm sure I'll go out this weekend regardless. Need to get a game plan for different area to hunt and how. Might try making a ground blind near neighbors spot. Can't sneak around in this snow. Crunchy!!!

We just got a fresh dusting of snow last night so hopfully that will help with being able to sneak into stand. Sounded like a monster was walking through the woods. Was able to drag dad out last night to cover both stands and wouldnt you know it no deer moved. Checked the 2 cams and now the 8pt is showing up with the 11. Just as soon as you think you have a deer patterned he changes. They where both on the camera pretty much all night. The 8 seems to push the 11 around. Heading back out in a hour going to check one camera to decide which stand I should sit. 17 out right now with 11mph winds and a snow storm rolling in, crossing my fingers one of them gets on there feet. Would like to end 2013 on a good note

Wasn't too bad in blind tonight. Not windy. No deer. Drove by blind last night and 6 deer were in front of blind about 50-60 yards. It was snowing today. Heading out again tomorrow to see if anything shows up.

Dang well I stuck it out all the way throught the end and came out empty handed. Was so close but so far at the same time. Season was full of ups and downs like always. Each year I am able to get on more and more mature deer and have close encounters but just cant close that extra little bit. All well just going to have to wait and see what the 2014 season has in store. Great to get to know all you guys we had a good run

Very nice buck. Went out tonight. Kicked out 10-12 deer on way in. Tracks around my ground blind, but no action.

Trying again tomorrow. Figure sooner or later something will come by. Not a big deal if nothing does.

Yes, the giant I saw was from the same stand! Going to check the trail cameras today. Hopefully he lives! Love to confirm it with a TC pic.

Yes I have. At least 3 different guys that I know of. Next year I am going to place a camera on the opposite side of the road, high in the tree so I can get a good feel for how much activity that area is receiving. I didn't see anyone until mid to late October. I haven't seen any other vehicles hunting the neighboring properties. That doesn't mean they aren't back in there.
