Well, my Christmas went perfect. Good times with family! The wife gave me plenty of hunting related things. Sad part is, not sure if/when I'll be using them this year. Work has been INSANE! Worked the last few Saturdays, on top of 12+ hour days. Can't complain cause I'm making descent money though. It's been about a month since I've been hunting. The longest I've ever gone without hunting during the season. Still got a couple weeks though.

Alrighty boyz! I have 4 days to get it done in NE. I am hunting everyday. Tomorrow is a high of 53 and then the temp is really going to fall off starting tomorrow evening as the front blows in. Sundays high is 15 with a wind chill of 0. I am still searching for the perfect land in NE. I am going to go further North and West tomorrow. Drive time is 100 minutes. :( You guys have I any late season tactics for me? Should I keep moving around from day to day or just pick a spot and go with it? I am thinking I need to get in a transition area between food and heavy cover. I don't ever recall killing any bucks this late in December ever...!

Find food and more food source. Tracks to food source if you have snow. Late evening hunting and cold cold weather will get them out earlier.

Well that sucked. Started out bad and just got worse. Started before I left my truck. I was short a glove and sock... Next I had a heck of a time finding a tree worthy of a lock on.... I finally get setup and some yahoo decides its time for target practice. It sounded like they were shooting from my truck. Finally some farmer comes haling a$$ down the road and runs them off. That same farmer decided he was going to drive the corn field behind the field I was hunting in his pickup. He drove all over the place almost as if he was trying to fluck up my hunt. There wasn't any reason for him to be down in there. He came within 50 yards of my stand at one point. I watch the sun set and didn't see a single deer. There were tracks everywhere.... Maybe it was just to warm... Tomorrow is suppose to be brutal. Wind gusts to 30 mph. If I hunt it will be from the ground. Was thinking about going back to where I sat on the ground last time when I had a buck jump the fence on the private side and couldn't kill him.

Add gusts of 45 mph and I'm not sitting in a tree now. Luckily my dad has a tree house that I have left for him all year right in same area. This treehouse has a heater and 4 windows.

Yah, I am on the fence as to if I am brave enough to try it this afternoon even from a ground blind. I would sure hate to drive all that way and the cold be to much for me. There is a pretty good shelter belt that backs up to a corn field. Wondering if I can sit for 4 hours or so if I really bundle up. It's suppose to be 14 degree with a windchill of -4. Do you think I am crazy to go?
