Thanks guys, Where getting some rain today and suppose to be crappy rain/freezing rain the next couple days so it might change things up some. Just hoping theres still some snow left when I do some scouting tomorrow, always makes things easier.

Still hunting with bow again when I get back from holiday stuff next Sunday. Late muzzleloader we can use bow and I'm hoping to catch a nice buck coming to feed early. Hoping for cold temps. I have until January 10.

Although it won't mean anything for points. Exciting about having one last run of bowhunting until spring turkey.

Pulled MY TC today in -26
Cam was dead as expected but I found out what happened and what made the huge rub I set up on. Dang bull moose were using it,had 5 different bulls using it too. I was hunting the wrong property early. This is after 3 days ,cause I couldn't find the tree that was rubbed clean. Also had 3 different bucks using it but none that were shooters. Look where the tree was after 2 days from the bull rubbing it! Should have checked this cam earlier as I usually hunt this for the rutt, not the Moose rutt,Lol

That's what happens when you don't have time to check the TC's or there to far away! :(

He looks to be a 3 ,maybe 4 year old,so no he's not big at all ,maybe 35 inches wide, they get up to 65 wide! He'd be great eating though.

So how old would a 65" bull be? Are those few and far between? Do you have any hanging on your wall? Would love to see pics! Always dreamt of hunting those beasts. Just wouldn't have any idea what to do with it once it was on the ground.

I would love to see one those in the wild. Massive animals.

Heck- I just got a muddy set up 5 climbing sticks and vantage stand) and used it for the first time tonight, little slow getting set up but expected for the first time. Was just kinda wondering how you do it, any tips to be faster with it? Do u climb up and down to get each stick? Do I just drop them down when your pulling them down? How do u determine how far to put them apart?

Love them moose pics Rocky. I need to find time to hunt before the season ends. # 1 and # 2 are still alive, mostly nocturnal but you never know.

To get a good 55 to a 65 inch wide Bull ,you need to do your home work. My best friend has got 2 55 's and a 57 incher and he's shot with his bow 25 bulls over the last 26 years. He's the best moose hunter and guide in Alberta. Doesn't guide anymore because it cut's into his hunting. So an average bull would be ,or a good bull would be 45 and up! And about 8+ years. They get older then 4 they start getting tough . Calfs are the best to eat , man it just melts in your mouth and you can cut it with a fork.

You defiantly need a system to be quick. Those trips up and down the tree are brutal. I would love to take credit for my system however I borrowed it from this guy.

How I climb with my Lone Wolf Sticks - YouTube

You will want to buy the Lonewolf Climbing Stick caddy
Lone Wolf Climbing Stick Caddy - Lone Wolf Stands

As far as getting your spacing right that's a easy one once you figure out works best for your height. This is what I do. Use the stick you are going to hang to measure. I set it on top of the stick I have already hung. Raise it up two more hand widths and attach it. It should be about the right height once you seat it.

For the meantime I would set the first two from the ground. Throw one stick over each shoulder and tie it off to the front of your harness. Climb and set those.... Go back down grab your last stick and stand bracket. and attach your pull rope to your harness / tree stand. Climb, set the last stick, tree stand bracket and stand. Go back down get your gear and attach your bow to your pull rope. Climb and set. It's still three trips. May be better then what you have been doing.

This is similar to what I have done when I left my caddy at home.

Yesterday I forgot a pull rope so that made things a big a pain. Im thinking I can get a strap from a old duffle bag and clip it to a couple zip ties on the last stick. Kind of the same concept. Going to take a few times to get the hang of it but the video gave me a good idea on how to do things. Tomorrow is calling for a high of 17 with 5-10mph winds thinking im going to head in around 10-11 and dit the rest of the day. Been getting a lot of pictures during mid day and hopefully the tempature change will help get the deer on there feet.

The deer will be moving. They gota keep stoking the fire when its really cold. Every time I have been out when the high was in the teens the deer have already started feeding by 3 PM. I have seen a wild number of deer during those times! I should be headed out but I have chickened out. It's snowing. Temp is -10 with the wind chill right now. Once I am in the stand I'm ok. My hands are usually so cold I can't hold onto anything by the time I have everything set up. Hard to get all that work done with big heavy gloves on!

Yeah with touching all the cold metal getting set up your hands are froze by the time your set up. Kinda why I wanna get in early to take my time with everything. Only problem im strugling with is trying to find a food source. There are tracks everywhere so its hard to decide where they are going to go. The property is just made up of big hard woods and swamps so trying to find a certain food source is hard. Just trying to stay mobil and hope I can get lucky and be on the right trail at the right time. Wind will be wrong to hunt the split brow 10 but he still is only showing up after dark and im pretty sure he is bedding in the thicket right by where I am getting pictures of him.

Pretty sure I am done. With the rib I didn't want to push my luck. Sorry no points for me but it was great getting acquainted with everyone. 25 days in the stand and one of the lowest buck sighting years I've ever had.

Santa was here early! I guess that is what is good about being the first to kill a good one. #1 in the queue at the taxidermist!
