I keep making plans to get out but something keeps coming up. It's hard to get out with the holidays here. looks like a lost cause anyway, the trail cams indicate that all of the big boys are down with the exception of possibly one. If you get out you just never know what can happen though.

You gotta get that done, the doe is the gravy part of the equation.

I really feel for you American's that have to dish out cash for a lease to hunt. Man If I had to do that, I'd pack in bowhunting. That's really to bad that they do that down there, I'd imagine a lot more people would probably hunt if they didn't have to pay. Just my 2 cents on the leasing piece.Man were getting snow again and there calling for a nother foot, 3 days of the stuff, might have to get my snow shoes on and get my TCams out and see if any of my bucks came back or just flat out died off. The second rutt should be done with ,or close to it!

Same here. Don't get me wrong, I would love to shoot 150"+ deer every year but I will not pay someone just for the chance for it to happen. With that being said, I definitely have nothing against it, just not for me.

A bunch of people that I know from around my area go to the Midwest and hunt with an outfitter. That's not for me, due to cost and it just isn't the way I would want to hunt. Me and my buddy have knocked on prolly close to 100 doors in ohio , all with the same answer. Either they hunt themselves, or they just don't allow hunting. We got really lucky with the 60 acres that we do have to hunt in OH. The problem is, the guy that owns the property isn't getting any younger, so I think before too long we wont have that property to hunt on anymore. Also, its only a matter of time before he gets fed up with the way people mistreat his property. Back in November when we were out there, someone had cut down his fence. I helped him put it back up, but by the looks of the fence we repaired , this has happened 4 or 5 times. Even back here in NY, where the chances of shooting a buck 100" or more are pretty slim, things aren't the way they used to be. Its scary to see the direction that hunting is headed.

Gonna try my best. Weather is right tonight. Only thing I'm worried about is in this area he's gonna have to be right on me to get a shot. It's all super thick

No luck with sightings. Gonna head out early Tuesday to move some cameras around and do a little be more scouting to see if I can find some good trails where that buck is coming from. Times running short so hoping I can zero in soon

Guess I should of been hunting this spot this morning. Not the biggest but would be a good one for public land around here.

My season is pretty much over, but I got some good news for next year. I checked one of my cameras today and had a two 130-140 inchers and two 110-120 inchers survive through the season. That is some awesome news for me.

Sorry I wasn't able to put up any points for us this year. It's been fun getting to know everyone!

And all this time you kept telling us you didn't have any nice bucks around! :p Did not finding that deer you shot get the best of you and put you into a tail spin? Seemed like you kind of fizzled out there at least for awhile after that happened. No apologies necessary! I know you gave it a good go! That and you were active in the team thread which to me is by far the most important part. Not a hole lot of fun if we don't have a good time while we are trying to put points on the board! I hope to see you hunt Kansas some day!

The not finding that deer really got to me. After it happened, I took a break for a couple weeks and then got back at it. Even when I was in the woods afterwards I felt guilty for still trying to fill my tag.

As I said before, my area was devastated by EHD last year. My county went from giving out 650 rifle tags in 2012 to 50 tags in 2013. Most guys around my hometown would give me dirty looks when I told them I was archery hunting this year. Hitting and not finding that deer made me feel like a total jackass and was a big part of not trying harder down the stretch.

I can tell you this: if the deer population was at it's normal numbers or if I never hit that one then I would still be hunting. I just don't think the 30 acres I hunt can afford to lose another deer this year.

You will definitely hear from me in the future about hunting Kansas. My lack of late season hunting has allowed me to start planning for future hunts. I threw together this spreadsheet so that I can start buying out of state preference points next year. https://docs.google.com/file/d/0B5WffwmRUH7YWTNoRVpIWkZfM28/edit

If any of you fellas are ever interested in hunting SoDak, let me know!

It's been pretty darn good! 200x better then last year. I have had quite a few awesome encounters. Getting them in bow range is another story. Obviously its slowed way down in December.

I've only had three bucks worthy of an arrow in bow range since the buck I shot in Sept.

First day NE hunt - Pasted on a buck I should have shot. :(
NE hunt - Nice buck in bow range. Other side of the fence on private land.
Nov. Monster buck and no KS tag.

Hopefully u can get one into range before it ends! Glad your season has been going well! As for me, I just didn't see the movement that I normally do, in NY and OH. I`ve gotta get out and set some cameras, so I can try to figure out if any of the good ones I was seeing here made it through or not. Starting in January, I`ll be getting out the rabbit distress and working on putting a hurtin on the predators. I`m really sad bow season is over!
