Went out last night for about an hour. Really cold and got out way too late. Busted a bunch of deer going in. Not much later had three different nice 8 points around me. Only have a doe tag.

Could have taken a 40 yard shot on doe but I didn't think it was needed and she wasn't dead still feeding.

Saw a lot of deer walking in. Shotgun starts today so I won't be beginning until end of December. I can buy a muzzleloader tag and use my bow for a second buck then. Kind of excited.

Been -20+ wind chill here for the last week straight plus 8" of snow. If it ever warms up even a little I will make it out again. Still haven't tried shooting with the bruised rib.

Make sure you shoot before you go out. Don' want to find out drawing on a buck and find out you can't get it back.

Well no deer hunting for me this past weekend. Saturday night I was talking with my dad about some property I drive by every day going to work. Told him I would like to hunt it cause every year I can see a real good rub from the e-way. Well wouldnt you know it he decided to tell me that its a park you can bow hunt. I could not find anything on the DNR webiste about it. Yesterday I didnt have anything going on so figured I would go out there and see what it all about. Sure enough its a park that you can bow hunt only. Not sure how many acres it is but it took me 4 hours to walk the boundry of where you can hunt. Found a couple spots that looked real promising then a couple other good spots that had stands hung by them. Property has a real good mixture of swamps, thickets, and wooded areas. I found two spots that where a ways off the walking trails and did not have any treestands anywhere close to them. First one had several beat down trails running along a creek that butts up to a super thick area. [IMG]

The second spot is on the back side of a factory fence. There where a few holes in the fence where you could tell the deer where crossing. There is about a 20 yard strip of trees that run along the fence and then to the east is a grass swamp. Looking at the ariel you can see the trails across the swamp leading to fence holes. Found this rub right there, and then a few others about the same size as the other rubs. I have chicken legs but my thigh is 19in around.

Think its just a spike messing around though :poke:. After seeing some pretty good sign decided mies well give it a try. I would probably die if i tried carrying a stand, camera gear, and my hunting gear all the way back. Since there are walking trail through the area and they go about 3/4 of the way back figured I could ride a bike most of the way then carry everything the rest of the way. We had a Mt bike laying around for years not being used so decided to bust it out and use it to my advantage. cut up some angle iron we had laying around and bolted this together.

Was going to go and hunt it tomorrow but they are calling for 24 as the high with 25-35mph winds. Think I am going to put a few cameras out then wait until this weekend.

Hey fellas, sorry I haven't checked in for a while. I am in the midst of finals week at school and my brain is feeling overloaded.

I will be giving archery hunting one last hurrah in a couple weeks. I am heading west for some spot and stalk muley hunting. The odds of filling a tag are pretty low, but it's usually a fun adventure.

Home today after wisdom teeth out and deer everywhere in backyard. I actually live on edge of town.

Nice little 8 point. Seen over 20 deer and 1 turkey.

A big congrats Mark! Sorry I have been MIA. I have a couple of big projects at work that have had me tied up more then I would like. Still getting some hunting in. Going to keep grinding through it until I harvest a buck in NE!

I did get a couple pics from the taxidermist on this season KS deer. It almost done! May be able to pick it up toward the tail end of next week. I can't wait! Kind of crappy phone pics ....
